However, there are a few who believe he is not a good coach at all. My question then is very simple, when did you first believe that CJL was not the man for the job and what were the circumstances that led you to believe it? A specific year or game is what I am looking for.

Guest
If I recall, most of the naysayers started questioning The Jim's ability after the loss to Army at home (Homecoming 2004).Before that, most people were blaming other issues... Mike Hobbie... poor qb talent... etc. That game pinpointed an issue that seems to still be a problem for USF players: focus and concentration. Sure, we were young and that might be part of the problem... but letting Army come from behind because receivers were dropping passes and the defenders were getting caught out of position -- it shined a big spotlight on a glaring problem with USF that has been there from the start.Lack of discipline. In I-AA and to a certain extent I-A independent, USF had enough talent to overcome this shortfall. However, USF no longer has the talent advantage to win on talent alone. In fact, USF is at a talent dis-advantage against some teams (see WVU, Louisville). So, I still believe Jim Leavitt should be our coach as long as he wants the job, and then we tie him down and make him stay when he doesn't...But he and the rest of his staff really need to start instilling a sense of discipline in the team.Otherwise, some people will continue to ask if CJL has taken USF as far as he can.
