filling the dome alone wouldn't generate enough money to pay Huggins.  Some donors would have to step up big time.  Until that happens, we won't get a coach with that big of a name.

not to mention we have trouble filling the dome even when we have all the hype in the world about our team.   We have a reputation here for not supporting basketball here at USF... a high price coach requires high support.... support must come first.

Today is a word for winners, tomorrow is a word for losers.

Seems qualified to me...

Bob Huggins has established himself as one of the nation's premier major basketball coaches. His 567-199 record (.740) amassed during his 24 seasons as a head coach ranks him eighth in winning percentage and 11th in victories among active Division I mentors. His string of 14 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances is the third-longest active streak. His teams have won 20 or more games in all but four of his 24 campaigns and he has averaged 23.5 victories a season, 26.0 wins per campaign over the past nine years.

Huggins earned the Ray Meyer Award as the Conference USA Coach of the Year a record three times (1997-98, 1998-99 and 1999-00), and was a unanimous choice for C-USA Coach of the Decade. He was selected national coach of the year by ESPN.com in 2001-02. He was named co-national coach of the year by The Sporting News last season and was Basketball Times' national coach of the year in 1997-98. He earned national coach of the year recognition from Hoop Scoop in 1991-92 and Playboy in 1992-93. Huggins is truly a proven success as a program-builder, recruiter, game strategist and inspirational leader, and he has demonstrated this in a number of varying situations during his tenure at Cincinnati.

Nice knowing you CRM, best of luck in the future.

Would you get out of Bob Huggins jock.  **** man, you are predictable and boring!  At least provide a viable list of candidates in all salary spectrums, and skill sets- so your sick love for Huggy Bear wouldn't be so blatant.  Just like before you bring no viable facts to the table just your opinions and speculations.

Just to review; you hate CRM, our hoops team sucks, and you LOVE Bob Huggins.  There you go, you don't have to post anymore, your points are coming across loud and clear- at least not until you create another original thought which could be, ummm, well a while.

Well that plan failed because he now makes 1/5th of what he did at UNC $171,000 to $855,000.

Wrong, Rueben, I know what state of affairs their budget is in because we discuss it here every year.  Just because you don't know and are incapable of researching it doesn't mean that nobody else knows. Quit being a dillhole...

Keep on lying to yourself Mike, you don't have any facts to back up your assault. Dillhole? Okay Beavis, 1995 called and wants it's insults back.

And thanks Bulliever, I am biting my tongue out of respect to you and the rest of the forum. I won't respond to name-calling with personal attacks, even though it is very tempting.

I think Ari is gone for good, so hopefully I won't continue to be guilty by association.

Hire Huggins,

Rueben

I'm predictable? Then I would like to welcome you to the club of absolute predictability, b/c you are repeating EXACTLY what you say everytime someone mentions Huggins.

What facts do you want counsler?

There are two types of posts in here about bb -- Those that think CRM needs to go, and those that think he's going to turn things around, so they will be repetetive. Get used to it, it's bb season.

And why don't you register you stupid guest poster? (always wanted to say that).

I love you S.Bien,

Rueben

$30 per head * 4,000 per game * 15 home games = $1,800,000

Should be enough to get a great coaching staff.

We currently are selling more than that, even though those donors aren't showing up.

having those donors show up in the seats still wouldn't increase revenue.

We wouldn't get 4000 new tickets per game for 15 games at $30 just by a coach.  First 2 losses in a row and everyone will jump off the band wagon and then we are stuck with a high priced coach, no support, and a deficit.

I do not know thing one about our budget and how one effects another, but just a little food for thought here.......does anyone really think we would hire a new bball coach with a salary higher than that of CJL?

I have a hard time thinking our Athletic Department would be willing to throw big-time money at a coach, no matter who he is, with the situation said coach is walking into.

If we were to hire a guy at $500,000 - $1mil a season and things weren't significantly improved in 3 years, we're all sitting here banging away at our keyboards, b*tching about how much we're paying this guy for a still crappy basketball team.

exactly... we won't pay someone that much to coach basketball unless some major things change and that starts with the donors.

What catalyst is going to get the donors to step up? And how do you create that catalyst?

We all know winning is the easiest way around the risks of bringing a new coach in, but at some point you need to take that risk, pony up and see where it gets you. It's one of those decisions that can make or break an AD's career. Texas Tech took that risk with Knight, and it seems to be paying off.
