WICHITA, Kan. (March 5, 2023) – The University of South Florida Bulls (14-17, 7-11 AAC) had their three-game winning streak halted in the final game of the regular season on Sunday in a 69-49 setback at Wichita State (16-14, 9-9).

South Florida won four of its last six conference games to close out the regular season.

Serrel Smith Jr. paced the Bulls with 11 points off the bench on Sunday while Tyler Harris scored 10.

USF went into the locker room facing a 36-33 deficit after weathering a 52 percent shooting effort (4-12 from downtown) by the Shockers.

Wichita State built a double-digit lead in the second half, 47-36, at the 14:47 mark and stretched its advantage to 13 points with 12:22 on the clock before five-straight USF points were capped by a three-pointer from Harris at the 10:44 mark to make it a 49-41 affair.

However, the Bulls hit a cold streak from there and only knocked down two more field goals for the remainder of the contest as the Shockers posted a 48 percent shooting percentage in the second half of play.

Sam Hines Jr. scored eight points and pulled down a team-best nine rebounds for USF.

Notable

  • Harris added to his USF single-season three-pointer record with a pair of triples and ends the regular season with 91 three-pointers.
  • The Bull's seven conference wins are tied for second-most since joining the AAC.
