I did think of Toledo, they're probably the best MAC team in a decent metropolitan area.

Why the heck would Penn St move conferences the Big 10 is a 100 times better than the big East  you would rather play UCONN, Rutgers, and Cincy then Ohio St, Michigan, Wisconsin, Get Real.  In Fact if USF could jump ship to the Big Ten I would say when does the train leave.

Penn St. won't move, but they were much more successful as an eastern independent playing schools that are now in the Big East than they have been as a Big 10 member.

I don't think the Big East would touch a MAC school because of the bad PR that would come with it....Big East is so desperate, they went to the MAC of all places to get a team.

They could have pulled a team during the first expansion.

No.  I don't see any making the jump.

In my opinion not only to get some football hype back to the Big East media-wise I would say Notre Dame...would that ever happen though, who knows?!?!?  they are already a Big East school for everything else except football so might as well offer them a spot and with Charlie Weis at the helm I think they are going to be a pretty decent football program in the years to come...heck...they did knock off USC even though USC actually won.

Possibilities

ECU - Much like Virginia Tech a few years ago, Big East could help them get better, no Big East representative in North Carolina. Notre Dame would be the best fit. Instant conference credibility. Or some Big East Div 1AA needs to step up. After looking at the alternatives I guess USF was the best pick for membership.

Three words...

Bring Back Temple!!!!!!

1 - They are in Philly ... nice TV market...

2 - They would be a great homecoming game every other year

Temple was football only and decided to latch on to the MAC, which fits them more talent wise(cause they can play Buffalo).

Notre Dame I don't think will ever join the Big East for football.  It would be the Big Ten or not at all.  Until the BCS forces them to, they will stay independent.

If expansion happens, I think they will go for a CUSA school.  Not only do they want a school, but one who can try and help the image of the conference.  A I-AA jumping up would not help the image.
