Guest jaxbull
i'm not sure i agree with some of your assessments and i personally would not be very eager to support a coach like eustachy or oleary who are just looking for a handout from a mediocre college team to rebuild their sullied reputations. i would think going into the big east we wouldn't have to stoop that low to find a good coach (especially for basketball). i don't see why people are so eager to defend eustachy by trivializing what he did. when you're a head coach for a nationally recognized university you don't subscribe to the same norms as the average person. you are held in a higher esteem and you must act accordingly. same can be said about being a lawyer or doctor, if you're in a position of power and respect its your responsibility to act in a manner that's becoming of someone in your position. If he has cleaned up his act there is nothing wrong with this hire, at all, in fact it is the best USM could possibly do. It's somewhat risky but when you want a chance to be great you give a great guy a second chance. Good move by USM AD.

We're talking about a college basketball team, a crappy college basketball team at that. He used some poor judgement but appears to be recovering. Everybody deserves a second chance.
