bulletin board material!

TAMPA - University of Miami junior S Brandon Meriweather said he expects a tough game with the University of South Florida Saturday night.

In fact, he said USF's players are talented enough to play for Miami, if they were only smart enough.

"People underestimate South Florida all the time, but honestly they got the same caliber of players we got," Meriweather said. "The only reason their players are at South Florida and not UM is because their grades couldn't get through, they couldn't get them through the NCAA Clearinghouse or something like that."

"Of course, the game is probably going to be a very tough game, actually."

BIG BEN: USF LB Ben Moffitt picked up his second award in as many days Tuesday when he was named the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in last week's upset of No. 9 Louisville.

With the award, Moffitt has been added to the watch list for Nagurski Trophy, signifying the nation's top defensive player selected by the Football Writers Association of America and the Charlotte (N.C.) Touchdown Club.

Moffitt, who had 14 tackles, including a sack, a forced fumble and fumble recovery, also was named the Big East's Defensive Player of the Week.

ODDS AND ENDS: FS Danny Verpaele (ankle) and DE Jarriett Buie (ankle), who have been out all season, will not return this week against Miami, USF coach Jim Leavitt said. ... The Golden Bulls, the official recruiting hosts for the USF athletic department, hosted a dinner at the Alpha Delta Pi sorority house Tuesday night for about 35 students, including several who are now at USF after being displaced by Hurricane Katrina. ... I'm sure that little blurb will be posted prominently on each player's locker tomorrow.

I like how it ends...

The Bulls have never lost to a stat

Good thing we've never lost to a stat.  That would suck!

Someone obviously filled out the NCAA clearing house paperwork and his application for admission at UM for this idiot. He doesn't seem to understand how he got accepted at Miami. It makes me laugh that he thinks UM accepted him because he was cleared by the NCAA.
