No QB can win in an offense where he is constantly in third and long and the throws all go outside the numbers. Any defense with experience or talent can just sit back and either defend the pass or limit to YAC. The other problem a QB confronts in this offense is the deep passes are all limited to outside the numbers. Unless it is a perfect pass or receiver is wide open by 5 yards it is the easiest route to defend. The sideline is as good as another defender. 5 to 7 yard passes distributed all over the field mixed in with some slants and screens with a few posts and seams mixed in might be an eye opener to Gilbert. The way this offense is run sets football back to the 1930s

Just go recruit the 5’10” Qb’s that run the spread at all the local high schools that all of the big P5 schools are trying to recruit to play a different position. Strong said himself he recruited Flowers to play defense. Look at King at Houston he was at WR, we don’t need to worry about developing a QB to take snaps at the next level, we need a system QB that will be a great colleg player Prescient...yet so obvious that only the smartest of men will ever figure it out. Find the best available runner who is serviceable throwing and he can dominate the AAC. So what if he’s not a “next level” QB, he will be a CFB legend.
