New USF Uniforms

Bien, I understand your point.  At this stage it is very subtle.  Other teams in the past have made subtle changes to uniforms with black, and it becomes a primary color.  Look at a team in our old conference, TCU.  They used to be Purple and White, and now they have black jerseys.  Northwestern is another that comes to mind, as is DePaul in hoops.  Hawaii is another.  And I won't even list all of the NFL teams that go that route.

Tradition is Green.  As long as they don't change the primary color than its not a big deal.

I dont know if they are going to change the logo on the replica helmet the black was changed because it looks better on TV not in the office

i haven't seen depaul play in black uni's in a couple few...i've seen blue with red trim, and white with blue trim.

I do remember black when Q was there.

I think the new unifrorms could use a little MORE COWBELL.

I don't really care that much, but if the defense on the change is that you "can't tell anyway" then what sticks out in my mind as the response is "then why do it?" Our logo is green so why not keep it green if the change doesn't make a difference. If on the other hand it really does make it stand out better then that makes sense although I'd be surprised if that difference is any more noticable then the change of color is from the stands.

As velcro said though, it is a good thing I already have my green and gold helmet since it does make a difference up close.

All this being said there is one reason not to be too bothered by this. I'm sure this will change over and over again through the years so if its black this year it could just as well be gold or green next year. College teams seem to love tinkering with their colors and uniforms, at least the logo itself is awesome and looks good no matter how you present it.

Go to any website that sells authentic helmets and you'll see that many teams don't have facemasks that match the rest of their uniform.  Notre Dame, USC and UCLA all have grey facemasks.

Todays Trib has a picture of Matt Grothe and Carlton Hill throwing a football and the uniforms they are wearing are dark green with white numbers outlined in gold and the sleeve edges and collar are trimmed in black.  Looks good.
