A 1999 Armwood graduate who played at USF from 1999 to 2002, Gorham was 25. The cause of death was not disclosed. ``John was one of the most competitive kids I ever coached,'' Hawks coach Joey Fernandez said. ``He never wanted to be taken out of a game.'' Gorham was fourth on USF's all-time list in wins and strikeouts. Behind Gorham, the Bulls made consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances in 2001 and 2002. ``[uSF coach] Eddie [Cardieri] gave him the nickname `WP,' because he just went out there and won - he was the winning pitcher,'' USF pitching coach Nelson North said. ``He was one of the best competitors I ever coached. He was a very passionate worker. It's pretty sad. We're all heartsick over it.'' http://bulls.tbo.com/bulls/MGBIF51GG9E.html

Guest USFHank
I played against him while at Armwood and I believe he threw back to back no hitters late his senior year. Sad story.
