There was another article about it in the Trib today:

USF Included In Best Colleges Book

Published: Apr 6, 2005

TAMPA - The University of South Florida has been selected to be included in The Princeton Review's book ``The Best 361 Colleges: 2006 Edition.''

This is the first time USF has been included in the annual guide. Last year's edition featured 357 schools, including the University of Florida, Florida State University, Florida A&M University and New College.

The guide book includes detailed portraits of each school, although it does not rank them. It is popular with students because it describes not only academics, but quality of life factors, such as biggest party school, best college towns, best campus food and dormitories, and most attractive campus.

The Princeton Review is not affiliated with Princeton University.

USF named one of the nation's top schools by Princeton Review

Jacqui Cash

TAMPA, Fla. (April 5, 2005) - USF is one of the nation's best institutions for undergraduate education, according to the Princeton Review.  The New York-based company known for its test-prep courses, books and other education services has selected USF for inclusion in the forthcoming edition of its popular annual "best colleges" guidebook, The Best 361 Colleges: 2006 Edition.

"This recognition is a reflection of our commitment to superior undergraduate education which encompasses quality academic programs, state-of-the-art facilities, research, leadership opportunities and an overall enriching campus life," said USF President Judy Genshaft.

The Best 361 Colleges includes public and private schools, traditional and non-traditional colleges, historically black colleges and universities and science and technology-focused institutions.  It is the only guide to colleges offering both two-page profiles on the schools and college ranking lists based on surveys of over 110,000 students at the schools in the book who rate their own schools and report on their campus experiences at them.  The book's narrative profiles include candid comments from students the Princeton Review surveyed at each school.   The book's 64 ranking lists each report the top 20 colleges in the book in categories that range from academics and financial aid to campus amenities and aspects of the campus culture.

"We select the schools based on several criteria including our regard for their academic programs and other offerings, data we collect about them and opinions of students, parents and educators we talk to and survey," said Robert Franek, vice president of publishing at the Princeton Review. "We also work to have the book feature a wide representation of colleges by region, size, selectivity and character."

When each edition is published, the Princeton Review posts the book's ranking lists and excerpts from the college profiles on its web site.

The Best 361 Colleges is one of several college-related guides in a line of nearly 200 Princeton Review books published by Random House. The Princeton Review is not affiliated with Princeton University or ETS.
