Looking at the stats, ECU seems to primarily pass, but does so with short completions.  They also have a propensity to turn the ball over and commit penalties.

It looks like we should be able to run the ball and, on the defensive side, pressure the QB into making mistakes or taking a sack.

What I saw was that they have great first down offense with terrible first down defense, and we're the opposite. It also looks like they turn the ball over ALOT which our defense does very well. Hopefully they can't stop our run game and Flowers continues to improve as a passer and also runs the ball more this game where needed.

Navy's triple option caused a big hit to our defensive rankings and the lack of an effective rushing attack caused to drop in that category.  Overall, I think we match up pretty well against ECU and our team will be on a mission to make up for the Navy game.

I am with you, expecting us to rebound on ECU and make a statement. Squeaking a win here doesn't cut it. 2 Scores bulls.

Of course there is always a chance.  That's why the games are played.  How quickly we forget wins at Notre Dame, FSU, Auburn, WVU, even at TCU and highly rank UL and WVU in Tampa.  I shall even bring up beating a ranked Liberty team on the road back in the D1AA days.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22

"For me, I never considered it that way (as a stepping stone), honestly. When I was offered the head job at South Florida, and I'm sincere about this, I never thought I would ever go anywhere."
