2. So what? I'm sure that just about everyone's contract expires on Dec 31st. Muschamp fired and hired an OC before Taggart fired. You don't wait around a month while other assistants are re-upping with their school or getting hired onto new staffs. Lowers the number of available coaches. Not to mention that is makes you look indecisive.
The available assistants is not a static situation. Coaching changes are still being made and good coaches always get left on the outside all the time. Unfortunately USF doesn't get to be a first mover in this situation, even if we were, guys would turn around and leave before they were here a week if they were presented a better opportunity and more money.
There is no point firing those guys if he can't replace them with someone better. So maybe, hopefully, they were let go as a result of some better options showing interest. Wulff comes to mind as he is with a Super Bowl contender he's not a guy that is jumping to leave in early December. Their are position coaches from BCS teams who wouldn't have wanted to leave before their game but might be candidates for promotion here. UF has the clout to make them move before a bowl. USF doesn't.
And honestly who gives a crap if you look indecisive if you are making a decision that improves the team?
I'm certain if the 49'er's had lost this past weekend we'd see at least 1 of our new coaches announced.
