  1. Playing in a BCS conference for 7+ years, with a winning record against the ACC, clearly puts USF ahead of UCF in terms of national perception of the programs, regardless of having one down year. Should we hold UCF's craptastic 0-12 season before O'Leary arrived against them? Or UCF's 0-4 record against USF? There are a number of other reasons why USF is clearly ahead of UCF in the conference realignment food chain, but I don't have time to engage in the debate right now because I'm at work. Suffice it to say that actions will speak for themselves... if either team ever gets an ACC invite, it will be USF over UCF, or both, but not UCF over USF.
  2. Somebody needs to call Brantley to put a fist in DUImig's mouth again...
  3. Or UCF NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!........................ It's hard not to make a good case for them at this point: Larger student body than USF. On-campus stadium/better gameday environment than USF. No BCS experience but more successful in CUSA than USF when it moved to a BCS conference. Arugably better location for road trips than USF. Stable coaching situation. Better basketball. Competitive academically to USF. Don't forget on probation as well! Thx jonpfl +1 Believe what you want Upperhand, if it makes you feel better.
  4. Or UCF Quit stirring the pot. No way ACC picks UCF over USF. You can take that to the bank.
  5. True story. Greg Aumanâ€@gregauman Folks at @AthlonSports ranked all the college football openings. USF tied for fifth, ahead of Colorado, BC, Purdue. http://ow.ly/fOVXx
  6. This doesn't have to be a two-step process. Sometimes circumstances warrant it (e.g. a successful coach moves on), but it would be ideal to find one candidate who could ultimately do both jobs.
  7. Now this. My same thought regarding the likelihood of Cincy getting into ACC before USF, now that UofL is already in the ACC fold. Of course, it's all reading tea leaves... Greg Swaim Showâ€@GSwaim "@gss2003: @GSwaim what is the BE rank 2 ACC now among UConn, Cincy, USF?" // UConn is a possibility, but cincy same footprint as UL.
  8. What IS it with this man-crush on Bisaccia? It seems like former Bucs players and DUImig made some kind of death pact with him that they'd support his candidacy for coaching jobs. As for DUImig not talking about USF athletics, let's pray they don't talk to Bisaccia so we can hold DUImig to that promise. He's never had anything intelligent to say about USF athletics anyways, and like I said earlier, AM radio makes my ears hurt.
  9. Dickie V showing Taggart some love: **** Vitaleâ€@DickieV He played HS football in my area at MANATEE HS # 1 in USA - Would be a great hire 4 USF-WILLIE TAGGART is a natural . Willie is a WINNER!
  10. If not for the last two years, he'd still be at Ole Miss or cost an absolute fortune. I'd personally rather go with Taggart or McGee based solely on the fact that this is a destination job for them. USF doesn't mean jack **** to Nutt, but if he's the guy I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He may just be getting a public interview as a favor or to keep another candidate under the radar. +1
  11. Agreed, we s*ck. It's unbelievable we play in an NFL stadium, given how bad we are. Our past wins against Auburn, FSU, WVU, Notre Dame, Miami, Clemson, NC State, North Carolina... we were lucky in every single one of them, because our inept talent, small-time status, and overall crappiness should have prevented us from even scoring in those games, let alone winning. We shouldn't be looking for a coach. Why subject him to this obviously crappy job that pays nothing? I mean, his office will be a trailer on campus. Why take it? Instead of looking for a coach, we should be folding the program so FSU, Miami, and Florida fans (and their lazy representatives in the local and national media) aren't annoyed by us.
  12. Once the position is filled, we should tell whoever the new coach is that there are members of the local media (Tom Jones, Todd Wright) that think it was foolish for him to have taken this job. We've got to hold these "media" folks accountable. They're entitled to their opinions, but we're also entitled to expose them as a**hats if we want to.
  13. This is the meme among our so-called "media." Last night, Tood Wright said basically the same thing, suggesting our program was a third-tier program under "50 feet of ****" (quoting a movie line I believe). These people have their own loyalties. CFB is a snobby club of star-bellied sneetches. Originally, we didn't have a star (AQ), but later got one. Now, the popular thing is to not have a star (no more AQ), but you have to have a bowl contract to be in the "Power Five." These "media" folks have their own loyalties. Unless they grew up in Tampa or attended USF, they look down at us because we're "nouveau riche." Don't you see? THEIRS is the better university. Why, how could little ol' South Florida compete with the likes of Florida? Florida State? Miami? While I understand that the Big East has weakened and USF isn't as attractive a job as it was when Holtz was hired, it's ridiculous to say it's an undesirable job. Quit slandering my school, a**holes! Here's what I say: f*ck them and their fish wraps. I hope the next USF coach takes these sleights personally and instills an attitude of anger in the kids that choose to come to our school. We need a culture of "us against the world" at USF, because... it really is "us against the world." The best way to get revenge is to WIN. Just my "two cents," Tom Jones.
  14. We'll see what happens... @GSwaim: Said nothing would happen today on #B1G raiding #ACC front, but it could certainly happen this week...wheels are spinning. #UVA #UNC #GT #BC
  15. What I like most about Magee is that he has institutional knowledge about USF. He knows we hate UCiF, and why. He's been successful on offense. He WANTS to be here. He loves Tampa. I have little doubt he'd do well here. Seems like a solid match - which is why it'll never happen. He'll accept a HC gig elsewhere and lead that team to a national championship. Voodoo five, everyone. Voodoo five.
  16. Let me put it this way. I want USF to recruit really well, but I don't really care about it until signing day. I judge how they did based upon who they were able to sign, not some four or five star kid who led them by the nose for months but decided to wear a Miami lid on signing day. Those guys who sign on signing day want to be USF Bulls. I don't have time for the other little boys that like to play games to impress their girlfriends on twitter. I understand and don't begrudge folks who follow recruiting... Just not my thing, personally.
  17. +1 Coley Quinn Magee Coley doesn't call the plays at FSU, Jimbo does. I live up here and I'm telling you, Coley is NOT a good choice.
  18. I don't listen to AM radio anymore. It hurts my ears.
  19. As a former player you probably have better access to the relevant folks at USF than most people on this board. I think that there are many good candidates out there that would do well as HC at USF. I think Coach Magee is one of them. Good luck getting the word out to DW.
  20. This guy started ODU from scratch and apparently runs a variation of the fun-n-gun. People want to be entertained and feel like they have a shot at winning every game. Pair him with a strong DC and you could have one heck of a team. Downside could be recruiting, but keeping Scott and Patrick could help on that end. http://articles.dailypress.com/2012-09-27/sports/dp-spt-teel-column-odu-brian-scott-20120927_1_offensive-coordinator-taylor-heinicke-bobby-wilder
  21. As noted Coley doesn't call the plays up here, Jimbo does. But no one's clamoring for him. There are other better options IMHO.
