  1. +1 Seems to me lots of people hate the Big East and are licking their chops to publish ANYTHING negative about it. Aresco is doing his best to dispel the BS but it's coming from all angles. Don't know about you guys but I'm just about done with all of this realignment crap. I don't want to participate in this BS university-on-university fashion show. I love my university but don't hate the others or begrudge them for not wanting to be left out in the cold. This whole system is a big pile of ****. Back to NFL football...
  2. Seems like a ridiculous option to me. I doubt it happens, but who knows.
  3. Happy thanksgiving, guys! I'm thankful that there are folks like you as interested in USF athletics as I am... Sometimes it gets lonely up here in the land of the savages (Tallahassee)...
  4. No way! I like this guys enthusiasm and love for the university. Getting kind of old hearing people piss and moan and wantibg to firing everybody who is associated with USF athletics. +1 Not sure how McGillis could have changed the fortunes of our football team. He may work closely with Woolard but Woolard is still his superior. And he has nothing to do with coaching. He does respond to emails (and thus responsive) and was genuinely enthusiastic about improving our uniforms last year and the school in general. Don't know what more we could want from someone in his limited position.
  5. I think you'll be disappointed, but who knows... I think Calvin Magee is under the radar enough that we could bring him back even in a year with lots of HC positions open in the SEC. I'd like a coach who is truly vested in how USF does, kind of like how Leavitt was...
  6. This presumes that a better record would have made a difference. Not sure it would have. ACC would still have FSU and Miami, and Big 12 would still not be contiguous to Florida. USF waited too long to start a football program - that's the bottom line.
  7. That donor must not be paying attention. Any reasonable person would at least have some doubts, even if he thought Holtz deserves another year.
  8. They are working on it but its going down something like this Receptionist: Big 12 conference offices how may I help you? Judy: This if USF President and I Receptionist: Maam please hold, you will be handled in order and your number is 8. While across the talble Doug is on phone ACC Swofford: Hello, FSU Doug: Swofford no its Doug at USF Swoffoerd: WTF you calling me for right now I am trying to save the ACC, shut up for a minute- Beamer hey buddy - click Doug: Swofford? you still there Funny, but I bet Woolard's already called everyone he can, and there's nothing more for him to do except monitor the situation, wait patiently for a return phone call, and give CSH another extension. Does heaven have 4G service? Maybe Leroy can still make a call. +1 We could definitely use LRS' help right now...
  9. We're 3 - 7. Too late for that. True, although I meant in those particular games...
  10. No. Good to be reassured, but should be expected.
  11. I don't think losing the next two games will make a difference. CSH will be here next year. All I can do is hope fo a couple of wins, both to reward these kids and build something positive for next year. And some game experience for Floyd and others, which will help us regardless of who's the coach one or two years from now.

  13. I haven't seen anything to suggest that next year will be better than this year. That's the fundamental problem. Only a few positives to this as far as I can tell: (1) Fewer vacancies in SEC, so we might have a better shot landing a better head coach to replace CSH (2) Both Woolard and CSH will be on notice that next year is CSH's last chance to turn things around (none of this "one more year" nonsense) (3) Saves money that could be used in other ways CSH's fate will be tied to whomever he chooses to replace Cosh and Smith (I think Smith is also gone), so he'd better choose wisely!
  14. Sure they do - at least as much as the hearsay statements made by others that they're considering leaving. The other option would be "no comment."
