  1. Very hard to make a case we'll win either remaining game with a redshirt freshman quarterback and our secondary. At this point, I'm just hoping we don't get embarrassed.
  2. All signs point to SDSU and Boise still joining, based on better revenue from a new Big East deal (even without Rutgers and UCONN). Note how Aresco seems to be "on it," which everyone seems to appreciate: http://voices.idahostatesman.com/2012/11/20/bmurphy/rutgers_big_ten_official_whats_next_big_east_boise_state?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=t.co
  3. *Also assumes UCONN goes to ACC, but swap out UofL if you think UCONN stays and UofL goes.
  4. I know. This relies upon A LOT of assumptions (and probably will never happen), but if by some CRAZY chance we don't get poached again and can stablize, this might be what we'd look like: East Navy Louisville Cincinnati Temple USF UCF West Boise SDSU Memphis Houston SMU BYU/Air Force Doesn't compare to any of the top five conferences. But, seems better than C-USA et al. to me. Thoughts?
  5. lol! on a not joking side, weather as of now in Cincinnati is 52 for a day time high and 25 for a night time low. i'm going to assume game time temp will be in the low to mid 40s, and we all know how USF plays in cold weather... We all know how USF plays in warm weather, too.
  6. Cincinnati is 482 feet above sea level... has anyone analyzed how that might affect our passing game? Anyone?
  7. It does suck. But it's far more entertaining than the football team at the moment...
  8. It just goes to show, I remember reading many ESPN and other articles saying that we'd have conference stability for the foreseeable future because everyone's happy and the ACC has a $50 million buyout in place. The bottom line is that ESPN, to the extent it isn't pulling strings behind the scenes, is just a reactionary and unreliable a source as any social media outlet. Just last year, I remember seeing the ESPN crawler saying that FSU and Clemson were SEC bound. My point is this: take EVERYTHING from ANY SOURCE with a grain of salt until you see a press conference.
  9. I hate the whole B1G, so this is just one more reason... I'll enjoy seeing Rutgers return to the irrelevantly crappy program it once was. Can't see them EVER getting past Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan, or Michigan State...
  10. Makes sense from a market perspective. Obviously, who knows if it's accurate...
  11. I'm not convinced Big 12 expand if they can't get FSU. You could be right, but if FSU is smart, they'll make the move. The ACC is the new Big East in all of this. It's also why I think Notre Dame will go kicking and screaming into the B1G at some point (maybe before ever really joining the ACC). http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8654194/college-football-conference-expansion-likely-end-maryland-big-ten
  12. Sorry Doug, your missing one huge part of the equation that does play a big part in perception of the program and the overall university in general. You don't have a stadium and no future plans for one............. That matters just as much as recent on the field success does in all these movements .... ie very little, if at all. I agree. I read an ACC fan dismissing USF, claiming the conference's bylaws require an on-campus stadium. But, what about Miami and recently admitted Pitt? A bylaw can be changed pretty easily, probably at the same time the ACC admits the exception (a bigger decision). Don't know this for a fact but if such a bylaw even exists, it was probably changed when Miami or Pitt came into the conference.
  13. The dream scenario would be admission into a power conference on the condition that some portion of the new revenues received would go to funding a new on campus stadium. I know I'm dreaming, but that would be a good day...
  14. +1 The idea that USF's administration is now or ever has been "asleep at the wheel" with respect to realignment is doubtful to me. More likely, other conferences just weren't interested in USF, regardless of what USF's fans or administration wanted. With any luck that'll change in this latest round of realignment, if we really get the opportunity to make a move.
  15. I don't know. It's like dating. Once you hit 16, you no longer have options, unless you're going to 17... seems to me the conferences have been playing it "wait and see." That could all change really soon. I find it hard to believe the B1G isn't a better fit for Notre Dame than the ACC... and we may get to a point where Notre Dame has no choice but to capitulate on its independence.
  16. Who said I didn't want the program to move forward?? I think either of those conferences would be great ... I'm just saying that if it doesn't happen, and we're back to CUSA-like existence, it's not the ******* end of the world .... and I am OLD. I tend to agree. Ideally, USF would get into a power conference. But if it doesn't happen, I'll still be a fan. I went to the frist game against KY Wesleyan, and saw USF beat Notre Dame in South Bend last year. Saw USF beat FSU in Tallahassee a few years ago. Talk about soup to nuts. There are still more goals (ANY conference championship), and it wouldn't be impossible to achieve them, even if it's in a depleted Big East. Again - not what I PREFER, but not the end of the world (at least not for me).
  17. Then ACC will take Uconn, Louisville, Cincy... Rutgers will be in Big10. Leaves USF all alone. Our only hope is a move by the Big 12 for a FL school. Not sure why you think they'd pick Cincy over USF. Doesn't make sense on a lot of levels. I don't think USF gets in to replace Maryland, but I definitely think it gets in to replace GT or UVA. Can't say I have any facts or figures, but USF is overall a better choice than Cincy. I'm curious as to why you think USF is more attractive than Cincy? Cincy adds a market to the ACC (#34 biggest market in the country), USF adds no new market Cincy opens up Ohio recruiting to the ACC (one of the top 3 recruiting states in the country) vs 2 FL schools already in ACC Cincy has higher rated academics USF is a larger school (enrollment), but UC still has 42,000 students Cincy has stronger basketball history (2 national titles, 26 tournament appearances) vs USF's 2 appearances Cincy has recent success in football (won 3 of last 4 Big East titles) Not saying Cincy is a lock to be picked up over USF, or that either of them will be picked up at any point by the ACC, just curious as to what your reasoning is behind why USF is such a better choice. I love both schools, I hope both land somewhere great (preferably together), just have to politely disagree with your overall statement. I disagree with your statement that adding USF doesn't add a market. We can quibble about how much of the Tampa market FSU and Miami capture, but Tampa has hosted Super Bowls and anchors central Florida. There's a strong demographic shift in the U.S. going on, to the south from the midwest. Also, keep in mind that the ACC has Clemson, Wake, North Carolina, and NC State - FOUR Carolina schools, three in North Carolina. One could make the argument that the ACC doesn't need all of these Carolina schools. If the ACC were inclined to follow the demographic shift and expand into a major metropolitan area, Tampa would get the nod over Cincy, to add just a third football school in one of the largest states in the union. USF also has a strong reputation in research, and neither school is AAU (although I bet USF will be within 10 years). While I'm not a fan of RJS, in the interim it is a better stadium than Nippert, and USF has room to grow, whereas I've heard Cincy doesn't. Those are some of my thoughts. Ultimately, like everyone else on this board, I'm just reading tea leaves. I have nothing against Cincy, although I love USF more than Cincy so I hope I'm right and you're wrong. UC is top 20 in research, USF is top 50. But yes, both have strong research ties, especially with USF creating CAMLS recently, which is incredible. I'm not sure what you mean by "room to grow", if you care to elaborate. And stadium wise, it's all up to personal opinion, Ray Jay is big, great concessions, easy to get around, but Nippert has an atmosphere that not many places in college football can come close to. But if stadiums are a concern, UC has already been in talks with Paul Brown Stadium (Bengals) to use PBS if UC were to move to a larger conference. So, I get what you're saying, but unless I'm not seeing something, I think research and stadiums are both a wash. With regards to location, I think only the head of the ACC could really answer on which works best for their future, we can all discuss it, but unfortunately no one has any clue as to what's actually going through the minds of the few at the top at this moment. I just hope both USF and UC cut a great deal that benefits both schools in the future. Both are fast growing schools with so much potential and upside, both located in great cities with plenty to do, and both with growing fan bases that are excited about their programs. I agree. Believe me, while I'm no Cincy fan, I don't want to see a fellow BE school left out in the cold. Cincy and USF have many similarities (both large city schools). I'm hoping they both come out of this OK. We'll see.

I love both schools, I hope both land somewhere great (preferably together), just have to politely disagree with your overall statement. Homerism. Oh and great points. The biggest one is the 2 FL schools already in the ACC. You can call me a homer if you want to. Not sure what that accomplishes. I still think Tampa is overall a better future choice for the ACC than Cincy. I think both UofL and Cincy would do better in the BIg 12. We'll just have to wait and see what happens, because ultimately that's all we can do. And post on this board.

Market size is one factor, but I think the ACC, from a geographic standpoint, is more Florida than Ohio. Just a hunch, and I could be wrong, but I think it's a bigger stretch to go with Cincy than USF.

  22. I've never understood this argument. Be patient? For what? More losing? It's one thing if we had a first year coach with a class full of freshmen and sophomores. That's not what Holtz inherited. And we aren't (and don't aspire to be) Duke.
