  1. And by big game you mean your first win over a ranked opponent in program history?
  2. This. Our page has always lacked uniformity and accuracy. Another issue is the use of "South Florida" on the athletics pages. UCF is always referred to as UCF, not Central Florida, why are we not always referred to as USF. Our athletic department has asked (although never demanded) that "South Florida" never be used. This might have to do with other schools having the same 'USF' acronym as us. If you go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USF USF can mean multiple things including other universities. However, if you go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UCF it takes you straight to University of Central Florida True dat. Bu the REAL test is where you go when you click http://www.usf.edu I wonder how pissed Texas and Tennessee were when they missed the boat on www.ut.edu?
  3. Memphis in the B1G? Not a chance. Mediocre academics and even worse football.
  4. I wish we were getting Dyer since most of us are cautiously optimistic at best in regards to Bench (better?).
  5. I'm more than willing to be convinced the league is blowing up. I'd love for Tampa to get another shot. I just don't see it right now in the articles I've read.
  6. The ten year trend is not what was said. I read the the article too. It looks like a great business model, but it doesn't mean a thing today. The comment made, which I was arguing against, was that the MLS was "raking it in." Prove it. http://m.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Daily/Issues/2011/11/21/Leagues-and-Governing-Bodies/MLS.aspx? "...despite the high attendance and with revenue at an all-time high, fewer than one-third of the league's teams will make a profit this season. Even the Galaxy, with an estimated value of more than $100 million, will finish in the red."
  7. I know the AAC makes more per team than an MLS franchise does in TV revenue. And I've yet to hear anyone say we're kicking ass. And I've never been to a Salem's here in Tampa, but I know McDonald's is doing a bit better than they are business-wise. And I always love the "clearly you don't know..." argument. It's much better than producing a single fact showing the MLS is turning huge profits.
  8. Because the question was, can soccer become a revenue sport at USF and the answer is no. Not at the current attendence and ticket sales level (per Mike, who says we're a long way from breaking even). The other comment made was that the MLS was "raking in the cash" which it absolutely isn't.
  9. Please. According to MLB, only two team in the history of the MLB have ever made a profit in a single season. Take figures like that with a grain of salt. I really couldn't give a **** one way or the other as I've never watched an MLS game in my life. But if this is a league turning massive profits, they're the shittiest run league and franchises in the world.
  10. So Strong is just lucky and Holtz is unlucky? That's the only difference between them as coaches?
  11. I hear you. And I don't think he's a saint. I'd say he falls in a large gray area where things could work out really well for him and his chosen team.
  12. And as I asked many pages ago, why is Dunkley on this team and deemed ok if Dyer is a such a bad guy? Dunkley locked a girl in a closet and beat her with a cord. I don't think I saw a post from you lobbying for his dismissal when that thread was going.
  13. Seriously though, I'll miss those home games against them. There was a nice tension in the air and it was always a big game. +10000 Hope we get to play them again. Also loved the "West Virginia style hot dogs" that we would traditionally make at the tailgates. Do you put the hot dogs in buns made from the pig's sister?
  14. Explain his involvement. You must have read a different report than I did. The one I read said he removed himself from the bad influence of 4 teammates.
  15. He smoked legal, synthetic marijuana. Probably 90% of college kids 18-20 (and players) are out drinking every weekend. That's technically a crime. He legally purchased a gun. How many kids from BFE Florida on our team own guns? Evan Longoria owned an AK-47 and none of his teammates have been led astray. You might not like what he did, but neither of them are a crime.
  16. I have an offer to pitch for the Rays, its not committable though.
  17. I get that we wanted Dyer and we're trying to dial down the butt hurt by pointing out his possible negative influence on teammates, but last time I checked, the kid has a clean criminal record as well as zero academic question marks. That's a lot more than plenty of current Bulls (and some of our recruits) can say.
  18. So it's a hell of a night if you get drunk, bang your cousin, then tweet about it?
  19. Player salaries are a decent (but by no means perfect) measure of the financial prowess of the league. The Yankees, Red Sox, and Dodgers make a ton and spend a ton. Even if you take the attendence numbers along with the ticket prices and add them to the TV revenue, it's a league on solid ground, but like I said, definitely not "raking" in the cash.
  20. http://www.whatyoupayforsports.com/2013/04/why-major-league-soccers-average-attendance-figures-are-misleading/ How about this? $27 million TV contract. Even we make more a season than an MLS team. http://www.mlsplayers.org/files/May%2015,%202012%20Salary%20Information%20-%20By%20Club.pdf 9 total players in the entire league that make more than $1 million. And Beckham is done.
  21. Google - "mls revenue" Take your pick of which site you'd prefer to tell you the same thing. I'd say "stable" is a good description of the league. "Raking it in" might be pushing it when the average salary is less than a first year teacher in Hillsborough county.
  22. You do realize they also have a better practice facility than us, right?
  23. 17 is old enough to see the movie Showgirls. If you can make that decision, you can handle your recruitment with some class.
  24. According to the league itself, only 2 teams turned a profit in 2009.
