  1. I just would have preferred a shot at the end zone. Maybe you get a pick. Maybe you get a pass interference. Maybe you have to kick but you at least *tried* for the win.
  2. I wish we had been down by 4 so they couldn't have "settled". I don't know how anyone trusts kickers in any league....NCAA or NFL. Maybe I just suffered too much from the Delbert Alverado days.
  3. That's what this loss feels like right now. Shot to the face.
  4. We clearly were better today but when the pressure was on the coaches made unforced mistakes End of 1st half - called timeout with 13ish seconds to kick a field goal. No reason to let Florida have time on clock End of 2nd half - final drive - media timeout then run play by Bohnanon. Call our second timeout instead of having a play ready to go. -3rd and 20 in bad fg range. Run up gut instead of a pass attempt.
  5. That should be the story of the game along with how well USF ran the ball. Can't beat the gators and zebras. Just a shame because I don't think we can overcome two scores since they receive to start
  6. Is that what this thread is about? I hadn't heard about it... Seems petty to complain about *that* after a win. Let them have some fun...try having it yourselves.
  7. You're kidding right? If we win I want to see something that rivals this
  8. So far it's costing me some of the best years of my football watching life
  9. Maybe I'm not used to seeing good defenses... but Louisvilles seemed really good. They were fast, always in position, and able to tackle.
  10. What would *I* do? Elect to receive every single chance I had so our kick returners have a shot to get momentum early. (The fact that we did not do this the first game was crazy to me) What will USF choose if given the choice? Who knows...they clearly didn't care about a quick start last week but maybe they compensate this time. As for the play call I would almost bet money on them to call a run up the middle with Mangham. They were so committed to that play last week, even when down a bunch, that I think the OC will be salivating at the chance to call downhill running against a FCS team.
  11. This is exactly how I'm starting to feel unfortunately. Crazy talk is bringing up playoffs. If we can't avoid being blown out by FBS teams in a single quarter, we have no right to mention that. Losing is not a tradition people will take part in. Losing in the next iteration of the AAC will kill the program. Why risk that type of financial ruin when absolutely 0 conferences above us have invited perennial losers with no history to the table? Look, this year the sell job for USF to upper conferences was supposed to be "We can turn the corner on and off the field. We're investing in ourselves with facilities and finally winning meaningful games". Great pitch but we just face-planted right outta the gate on the game day results. If the losses continue this year, why would an inferior stadium (compared to RayJay) make a difference next year or the year after? Coaches are now saying NIL is #1 most important thing for recruiting. Shouldn't we should invest in that, the football center/IPF, and better coaches? Instead we're putting all our chips in a basket that's already falling apart.
  12. Um...I just checked and BYU had first and goal at the 8 in the 2nd half, and the defense held to a field goal attempt which we then blocked. That's phenomenal by the D getting a stop with the game on the line. Edit:.( @Cubanbull I edited this right before you replied, but wanted you to see without making another reply of my own) I do see they had last possession and ran out the clock down to our 20ish yard line. So I see the point you're trying to make. They likely could have scored again or come close if they had to. While our defense needed a stop and didn't get it.
  13. Let me twitterify my reasoning for everyone then "Bro he straight blamed the uniforms for getting clapped one game. Coaching skills gone "
  14. Strongly disagree with blaming fans for the hype. Plenty of things said by coaches to hype up. One quote in particular stood out to me "for first time I've been here it feels likes we have the depth to compete". DailyStampede podcast said defensive coach said his players were "faster than anyone you'll play this year" Bohanon was hyped by the coach who canned him and then by Scott after he was announced as the starter. In the second half of last year's game we held them to 7 points. That was actually impressive defensively because the game got within reach for us, so they had more pressure to score. *This year* with it well out of hand, they still scored 10 (not counting safety)
  15. Well it won't be succinct but here goes: Because the guy on the top inherited a record setting offense that used speed and tempo to light up opposing defenses, and at his introductory conference he said our offense needed to slow down. He then had his offensive coordinator do just that, and even the players at the end of the season on offense started calling their own plays (ucf 2017 some players admitted to running different playcall to get game tying points) Upon losing the quality players he inherited he did a QB carousel forever, then tried to install a pocket passer into an OL suited for a mobile QB and got said QB "rekt" (as the kids say). The more mobile QBs left out school and succeeded elsewhere to varying degrees (some having been drafted- see Chris O) He failed to recruit in the environment he was in, he was so out of touch with players that he blamed new uniforms for poor performance, failed to see 7-0 teams faults and make necessary adjustments...etc etc. Play calling, game management in 2 minute drills, all terrible. The guy on the bottom was a cheap hire with no head coaching experience taking over a 3/4 win team on a downward spiral, during a pandemic (that affected practices, recruiting,# of games the first year, etc). So he was naturally going to get a longer leash...which is kind of what the extension was (a freebie for a covid year just like the players got).
  16. Lol someone simply mentioned they saw Gruden at the game. Then ppl said we should hire him as a coordinator or coach.
  17. What am I missing? There's 0 specifics....so everyone can spin that how they want
  18. Lol fine but you have to agree you can't say it's flukey if I can't say there's a pattern. (My self imposed '24hrs post game commenting period' is ending soom anyways; so I'll be shutting up over what happened no matter what and trying to remotivate myself to go next week)
  19. In 2 of the last 3 football games USF has played, they have let an opponent go on a 28-0 run in a single quarter. Period. Could yesterday's version of it end up being the result of the first game played with a new QB who wasn't here in the spring, a new OC and new DC? Yep. I *could* come back at the end of the season and say 'well it took time but things got better'. But now we're talking about what caused it, not whether it happened. If it has happened multiple times recently it can't be a fluke. And if you're saying the definition of a fluke means 'it happened more than one time per season', then you still can't call it a fluke because there isn't another game to judge it on. At best you can say it may be a fluke may not.
  20. Unless we have it in writing that the Big12 will take us regardless of our record if we have an OCS, I'm starting to do a 180 on the OCS and come around to puc's perspective. You simply cannot be curb stomped by opponents year after year while promising turnarounds year after year, and expect a new stadium to maintain fan enthusiasm. More concerning is that coaches are regularly saying NILs are more important than facilities now. So are we investing too late in the wrong area? I'll stand by the practice facility as needed no matter what....but after yesterday I'm concerned that we'll be getting curb stomped in a less comfortable stadium that we will never be able to afford upgrading because no conference will extend us a lifeline (not while we lose overwhelmingly).
  21. "You keep using that word.. I do not think it means what you think it means" 2020- ND scores 21 pts in 2nd qtr Tulsa scores 21 pts 3rd qtr 2021- UF scores 21 pts in 2nd qtr BYU scores 21 pts in 1st qtr Houston scores 21 pts in 3rd qtr Tulane scores 28 pts in 1st qtr 2022- BYU scores 28 pts in 1st qtr To keep the movie quotes going "Well it's Groundhog day....again"
  22. That game was 17-7 at the half. Ours was 38-7. It took Syracuse 4 quarters to get 31 points. BYU nearly had that in 1. Our loss was worse and it's not even close.
  23. I expected improvements after everything that's been said and done. Our QB has competed at a high level, has been highly touted and has a national spotlight on him (watch lists). But the offense (AND defense) played worse against the same team as last year. Our coordinators were supposed to come in address issues that we had last year, not replicate them or fall even shorter. And I certainly did not expect to be down 38-0 in the first half. A D1 team should not be listing 'scoring in an FBS opener for the first time in years ' as an improvement. To me that's on the same level as listing the fact that we 'had enough players qualified to take the field to prevent a forfeit '.
