  1. Yeah come on this program is incredibly young. We're still the fastest to 150 wins in the state of Florida. If we had stayed in the kiddie pool longer we coulda had a better shot at lower class conference trophies, but we kept moving up (at least until the Big East collapsed). It'll happen eventually.
  2. Disagree. Barnett needs more practice time with receivers that can catch. He transferred late and could use time to get on same page as receivers
  3. Too focused on what they were wearing. Clearly that was the problem with the first half...
  4. I hate that this is derailing into a discussion on previous coaches but let me just say that taking a team from inception to a BCS conference is a pretty big accomplishment, along with marquee top 25 wins and bowl wins/appearances. Once joining the Big East he had only a couple of years to adjust to a different caliber of talent. You can't simply discount that and say ' no championships, u are all apologists'. At the end of his tenure he had teams that you felt could compete with anyone; and he had enough wins against quality opponents to justify that. I'm not saying bring the guy back but come on, let's not pretend there are no legit reasons to like the job he did. From there it's perfectly reasonable to expect people to think 'what if he came back?'.
  5. (Nah my mistake...Willie seems like the 'nearby' now that I go back and re-read. Meant nearby school)
  6. ??? Frost went 18-7 in two years with a squad that was 0-12 the year before.
  7. Fire? No. Be happy if another team comes calling? Probably. I know it's dumb considering the guys record here but idunno I've seen other teams/coaches piece together better units (like defense) while we still have iffy defense/special teams/and offense that appears predictable at times. Wheres the story about the coaches converting some kid to a defensive position and helping him achieve success? (Like a George Selvie..unfair to use one of our best alums but whatever) Maybe there are stories out there like that, but I haven't heard em so it makes me think why not try something else. Again I know it's only year two but I can't help but remember what another coach nearby did after just 2 years.
  8. Yes but just like usf last year, they could lose to one team from the other division and still have the *potential* to win out against the rest of their division. However if they lose to another West team, they need that West team to lose twice because that team would hold the tie breaker over them.
  9. Hey Houston, why risk injury for a game against the east? Better to rest Oliver and have him healthy for your own division...Totally unbiased advice here.
  10. Ah the ole 'switch a roo' quip that ignores what I said...I guess I'll say "har har" in response. Thing is I never said the coaches weren't winning games or couldn't. What I *was* saying was that if Strong thinks one reason we didn't have a complete game is because 'the kids were wearing new uniforms', then it shows he is focused on addressing the wrong (non-existent) problems this team has.
  11. Absolutely not and this is the worst excuse ever. All this does is show how out of touch he is as a coach. You really think the defense couldn't anticipate QB draws on on 3rd and long all night because they were wearing black? How bout those first two interceptions we threw? Would Wilcox have made the catches if he had worn the exact same clothes he practiced in? Maybe the reason this team doesn't appear to improve from week to week is because our coaches are the ones focused on the wrong things.
  12. "Second half team...second half team". I gotta keep telling myself that.
  13. So is the "quick slant route" just not in the playbook or what. We need something to counter our o line getting blown up quick
  14. Easy. All you ever need to root for is for USF to beat UCF; none of the other schedule minutae matters. Having said that, I personally I want them to go winless. While I know a good rivalry with strong teams gets good ticket sales, tv ratings, rankings etc, it doesn't do me any good. I have to deal with hearing their alums frequently enough. If you want a rivalry, find a school that doesn't encourage their fans to delude themselves into believing they are national champs. Final answer: Better for me if FAU upsets, better for USF football if UCF takes care of biz and USF beats them in turn
  15. National Title game (win) all the way. Conferences can come and go ::cough Big East cough:: and theres no guarantee the sweet flow of money will continue for the P5 members. Look at how fast ESPN is losing money after overpaying for TV rights in the era of cord cutters. Wouldn't be surprised if only a few big name teams got paydays down the road instead of conferences as a whole. Besides look how well that P5 deals gone for Rutgers. Stadiums collect dust half the year and we can get one eventually. (Besides I like my current seats) But national champs... you'll always have a title.
