    I completely agree Bear. I would love to see the administrations strategic plan, if they have one, in making this happen. They need to go beyond media campaigns and price deals and get feet on the ground to make the case to all communities (frats, Tampa citizens, corporate, etc.). This is cultural issue that needs to be changed. Now, maybe they are indeed doing some of this however, it is not working so the message and process needs to change. The lack of attendance will hurt us for better bowls and more importantly moving into a better conference. Thus, this needs to be job 1 in my opinion by Harlan and others on campus.

    Would you attend the conference championship game if we got in? If yes then this flys against your position. If no, then the position you take (getting into a P5) is hurt by a decrease in attendance. For me, life is too short to make the individual protest that you are making...and one that has zero bearing on us getting into the P5.

    I would find that impossible. I am a results driven person. If I watch I want wins. If I want wins I want a conference championship that comes with that. I don’t see how anyone could decouple these isuues. It’s like you are watching 12 preseason games...sounds kind of boring with no type of conference championship on the line.

    So let me see...my choices are 1. not watch USF football or care. 2. wait seven years and hope we are in a P5 (which will still be long odds). 3. Support the team and the conference they are currently in. Call me crazy but I’ll take option 3. And if we do win the conference, I WILL KNOW and that’s good enough for me.

    I am with you...now the long wait begins. At the same time I don’t think a starter will be named until summer camp.

    About where I said they would finish. Still proud our program has finished ranked two years in a row when we had never been ranked at the end of the year prior to last season. Happy we were ranked ahead of both Boise and Memphis. Although we won’t be ranked preseason next year, I do think we will be under the section “also receiving votes” for the AP. We just have to keep winning and build from there.

    I would think North Carolina and Georgia Tech. Both have been rumored before as they fit the academic profile...though do not have AAU status.

    No question in my mind that USF will achieve AAU status. Preeminent status was just the first significant academic step in USF history. I certainly see it as important to the long term viability of the institution. But at the same time, a university is recognized (wrongly in my opinion) on what it also does athletically and this too has an impact in the institutions finances (also known as the Flutie effect).
