  1. Studies show that those with only a HS degree have a much higher unemployment rate. Those with a college degree will make on average $1.3 million over their life time. Of course a non college individual can be very successful and college graduate can be a failure, but these are statistical exceptions. As a college professor I have seen many who should not be in college but this is typically due to poor motivation levels, not intelligence.
  2. How does this break out for the last six years after all of the defections?
  3. That is spot on. Buy a house? Jesus, he would "probably" become another failed mortagage statistic without a degree. Education is the golden bullet, I hope he sees that. Of course I do hope his football career does not fall short (even though I think he made a mistake).
  4. I would hope he does something better than that like buy a house or something. You gotta remember, not everyone is cut out for education! Yeah, the world needs ditch diggers too I guess.
  5. Not bad, but the average of staying on the practice squad is very short (two or three years). If he does not make it, I do hope he uses some of the cash and finishes his education.
  6. They make around $5,700 a week. Any team can also sign them at any time.
  7. Well, being that the Cowboys signed him right after the draft, the ball is in his court. Agreed, and I do hope he is successful. I just don't think he was at level that JPP was (who took the same action) and what he is doing is a bigger risk (with an obvious high return on the risk). If it does not work out I do hope he goes back to a college to complete his education.
  8. I really don't care about other colleges, I only support my alma mater, USF. That being said, college football is starting to look a lot like college basketball. I was not crazy with the JPP move and will never consider a player who was with us for only one year a USF Bull. This move by Scott willonto ably be like most who leave "too" early, a sad ending. Look, I hope I am wrong, but I doubt it.
  9. I don't see any hateful comments, like people hoping he gets hurt. I was happy to see JPP go pro early, as I figured he was a first-round talent and his career so far has borne that out. I think it's obvious to anyone though, that Darrell Scott made a huge mistake by going pro after the year he had. Calling something a miscalculation isn't the same as hating. I guess it is just my perception. For me it is a pessimistic versus optimistic view. PLENTY of rb make it in the league asan undrafted free agent. I'm reading a lot of these type of comments, "Gees, why did he even enter his name into the draft? He didn't do anything at USF" Very few, "He probably won't get drafted, but I wish him luck." It's not just your perception. It appears some people take stuff like this personally and lash out ... "Not even be a footnote in USF history" ... What the **** is that? ... Give me a break. Bottom line is that some just are not cut out for college, which I think was the biggest part in this ... and if you can't cut it there, you don't have a whole lot of options. Your first step would be see if there's any chance at all of making the big time. If that doesn't work, you start backing down to other options. Not cut out for college? Then I pitty him for not trying harder. There are plenty of services on campus. Education is the key, if your saying football was his only option then that is truly a sad statement for someone who could have had so much more.
  10. Any fan has the right to critique the decision of player, especially in this case.
  11. It was a STUPID move. End of story. He will not even be a footnote in USF history.
  12. According to most sites he is 21st or higher on the board for RB. So the kid throws away his senior year to be an undrafted free agent? Who was giving him advice? Did he simply not make grades?
  13. I still think we would have beaten UCF but they are pretty good this year.
