  1. And, finally, there was this one which I found particularly fitting and can probably share with my beloved Bulls...
  2. Best line of the day. I guess I should have followed the advice of this other fortune cookie I recently received at the same place. I was a bit bewildered me at the time as to how to precisely accomplish this. Maybe I should pass it along to our coaches as well.
  3. Been on the road and not listening but didn't the Bucs win by double digits?
  4. I just stopped for some Asian cuisine and received this fortune:
  5. Brings back haunting memories of when we played Alabama in the sweltering heat of Birmingham in 2003. I got to my seat at the crowded on-field endzone bleachers. My seat ticket number was 42 and there were only 41 seats in the row. I sat on the stairs and burly Alabama trooper said I had to move. I explained my dilemma and he said he didn't care. I either had to find a seat or leave. I clung to the edge of the seat until people started dropping from heatstroke, so it left some more room for me.
  6. I think it is funny how rationality is viewed by some on this board (and pretty much in society these days) as a bad thing. I have supported the Bulls for a half century with my fandom, my attendance, my money and, I dare say, a lot more work than most. I saw the steps forward last night and applaud them. I hope that continues throughout the season. And I continue to support the Bulls on all fronts, but I refuse to consider myself a fair-weather fan because I'm not giddy over a loss that we had every chance to win and didn't. Well-intentioned, thoughtful criticism is not a sin, nor is tempered optimism. That said, I don't credit any one coach, kid or unit with our successes or blame them for our losses. It is a team game. And while I generally loathe refs, blaming them for this loss is a copout. We could have won but, as a team, we didn't. I believe, that as a team, we can if we just knock out some of our much too common mistakes and lapses of judgment and concentration. Since the start of the season my optimism has grown somewhat that we can be respectable this year. I will continue to hope for the best and support the Bulls in my own way.
  7. It's better if you don't think of it as choking and embrace it as tradition.
  8. It's just how we do things. There's never a problem.
  9. Really impressed with his play from day 1. He has been a highlight.
  10. I agree with this completely. Hope that team improvement continues next week and throughout the season. That is really the most I think one can ask for. I'll add that while I am hoping we don't have a letdown after a letdown after an emotional loss to the Gators I hope Louisville does have have a letdown after an emotional conference loss to the Noles.
  11. But it's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye... https://www.foxnews.com/sports/multiple-appalachian-state-fans-suffer-injuries-rushing-field-hail-mary-win
  12. Don't see any big reason to be really happy or sad. A loss, as anticipated, but closer than I thought. Improvement shown, but in the end a winnable game not won. Hopefully improvement continues each week, and we can eliminate the costly mistakes. After watching Malik Cunningham play, we better string piano wire across the line of scrimmage.
  13. Game isn't over yet but doesn't look good so far for our transitive property matchup with UGA.
  14. Hope they have one of those flashing light warnings for those USF fans who have not yet had a seizure at that point.
  15. Not that I am judging... Jimbo Fisher is just a rich man's Kevin Sumlin at Texas A&M football | Toppmeyer Texas A&M needed just two games to cue up its tired anthem: Wait ‘til next year. Fifty games into his tenure, Jimbo Fisher is a pricier Kevin Sumlin.
  16. App State Miracle on the Mountain was Napier nightmare Ragin' Cajuns coach Billy Napier does not dodge history of The Miracle on the Mountain for Appalachian State
  17. After we got Texas to pay us to take Charlie Strong how much can we get from Texas A&M to take Jimbo?
  18. I'll be going to FSU homecoming for my 30th reunion on October 1. So that should put a stop to any success they may have had thus far. Fitting that the Noles are playing a team called "Wake."
  19. Yes, sometimes the other team is just much better. On second thought, maybe "sometimes" is not the right word.
  20. FSU has survived a couple of close shaves but, with injuries piling up and a coach with questionable (at best) in-game decisions, it will be interesting to see if they can keep it up. Meanwhile, we become the salve for Gators licking their wounds from that tangle with wildcats in the Swamp.
