  1. I expect common decency and not to be treated solely as $$$. Yes, I do have those kinds of wild expectations.
  2. Wasn't sure what this thread was about but the topic caption reminded me of when I was on the staff of The Oracle back in the late 1970s and satellite receivers were kind of a new thing. USF erected one of those really big satellite receiving dishes near the parking lot at the Admin Building. Someone wrote in a letter to the editor questioning the safety of that and said, "What if one of those satellites comes in and misses the receiving dish." It was either one of the dumbest or most clever questions I ever heard. Either way, a hoot.
  3. Wishing the best to everyone. All my family in Tampa Bay area fared pretty well but friends in Fort Myers area were devastated. Alive and safe but homes destroyed. Making plans on how to help them out.
  4. I believe it's not so many donors who are asking "what can USF do for me" as there are asking "how much more can USF do to me". Many of us put our bucks, sweat and tears to support athletics for years only to be treated pretty shabbily in recent years. This, coupled with the ongoing less-than-mediocre performance has discourage more than a few to turn ambivalent.
  5. Perhaps we can soon remove ourselves from the dishonorable mention category. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/34676775/college-football-bottom-10-rocky-mountain-low-colorado
  6. I hope the Bulls can overcome the distractions. As I recall, ECU has fared well in post-hurricane games against South Florida competition. They even survived some projected powerful Canes. https://ecupirates.com/news/2020/4/4/football-classic-rewind-ecu-upsets-no-9-miami-27-23.aspx
  7. Was just reminiscing about that one with my bride. I was planning on a Labor Day camping trip to Chassahowitzka River with a group of friends when Elena barged in looking like she was headed straight to my camping spot. Then she decided to just hang out for a couple days and used all my camping supplies to host my own hurricane shelter/party for friends and family who were evacuated from lower lying areas. It turned out to be good memory.
  8. Finished the drive back from L'ville today starting south of Atlanta. I-75 northbound was just a cluster f&^%. Miles long back up at one point from what my wife thought was an overturned trailer (not the large tractor/trailer type) with maybe a shoulder getting by. This was south of Gainesville IIRC. Got down to the next exit miles later and that was backed up for miles with people trying to get off that exit to avoid the cluster further north. Got home and we got 1/2 the shutters put up but our son-in-law will be here early tomorrow to help get the larger openings covered. Eeeewwwwww! Was wondering if you might just stay up in the high ground. I'm thinking my old waterfront home may be like Atlantis soon. Hope you all stay safe.
  9. Boca Raton: Where USF football coaches go to enjoy life after the Bulls.
  10. Steereth away the wrath and ill waters of Ian and delivereth long-suffering Bulls Nation victory over its oppressors.
  11. From a seventh-generation and life-long Floridian recently transplanted to North Carolina, I wish all in Florida the best in dealing with Ian. Stay safe and as dry as possible.
  12. Scored on the opening kickoff and never looked back. Playing backups early. Weill be interesting to see what they do with Wake after its shootout with Clemson.
  13. Now we may have to just pray the indoor practice facility is hurricane proof.
  14. The problem comes where "if" turns to "when" for a coaching change? What happens if you wait until the end of the season and the team wins 4 or 5?
  15. Maybe we court Curt Cignetti. From the Saban tree and won first conference game, on the road, in first season after moving up to FBS.
  16. And a typical Miami crowd on hand at the end. They certainly need that on-campus stadium.
  17. In yet another crazy finish, James Madison comes from 25 points down to win their first Sunbelt game.
  18. The Sunbelt would be a reach for us the way they are playing vs. the way we are.
  19. I think they are in the lead for craziest season so far.
  20. Yes, it is a bit of a quandary to wonder if a "softer" out-of-conference schedule would help or hurt for a team that has not yet shown enough improvement to close the deal with more than one FBS-level opponent but is simultaneously trying to mount a stadium development campaign.
  21. One wonders how many there are left, other than the ones which the sheet is hitting.
  22. There's now a thread requesting an apology from the coaches, so I guess that counts as balance.
  23. I'm sorry my friend. A near empty bottle would not be enough to wring a win out of that for me.
