  1. Actually, for a while, it was respectful and a good interchange of ideas. But after a while, yeah, the whole "mine is bigger than yours" maturity level prevailed.
  2. My sentiments, exactly. Now, if people disagree, that's fine. But at least they know with what they are disagreeing. This way is the chosen USF way. We don't know where it leads, but we know where it can POSSIBLY lead. We know where UCF's road leads. The CFP told us. The SoS is not strong enough. One school decided to keep doing what they were told failed. The other school learned.
  3. Saw Dave Mason in Central Park, NYC in 1974. I saw the Spinners in 1991. Never saw The Band, I am sad to say. If you haven't seen it yet, check out "The Last Waltz" one of Martin Scorsese's first films. It is a who's who of the sixties and seventies. Ya, know, before the wrap songs. I've heard of them. I don't like the wrap songs.
  4. I choose to live there. I've seen where we are headed as a society and decided to go back. It's very nice...
  5. It will be like that again. When, I don't know. But I bet it is sooner than later.
  6. I absolve you, my son. Say three fight songs and light a candle.
  7. Outside of the SEC, yeah they will pick up p5 games. The Illinois, Rutgers, and Boston College level teams will play them. And probably at a one and one. Their SoS will remain low and, therefore, the conference reputation will be validated in the eyes of many people. For a team being told that their SoS was too low with an undefeated season, they don't seem like they believe it. UCF, from what I see, is the embodiment of the old saying, "Continuing to do something that doesn't work and expecting different results...
  8. Yeah, the knights posted that on their board. I went there to point out the real potential danger in angering the very people that you will be courting. And that they can kiss the SEC teams goodbye for a while. No one will schedule them from that conference for a long time. The lack of big name games and the resultant low SoS is going to hurt them and the conference. Some listened but in the middle of a good conversation, the kids table emptied out and the grownups couldn't talk anymore.
  9. Now, THAT is some funny stuff! When the most powerful football conference spends the money to do that, I believe that there might be a message in there somewhere. Couple that with Saban giving UCF a knee in the bawls and I'd say it will be a long time before the SEC schedules a game with them. And now it looks like they are slamming UCF, as a conference, in the PR wars. I wish that UCF wouldn't approach things like this. Suppose they can't get their SoS up for a few years. If we beat them, accomplish anything notable, it will come with an asterisk. I hate asterisks. A clean defeat or win, I can take.
  10. Weren't we winning at halftime against Florida? That game made it obvious that depth killed us.
  11. Now that I think about it, the academic logo was very common. I just went into my pantry (glad I spelled that one correctly...) and pulled out a bunch of coozies with the old academic on it. Two USF Health, a few USF Alumni, and various others. With each college inside the university, I remember seeing college of engineering, college of this and that. I promise that I watched the games and not just the logos. And the Sun Dolls. Yeah, I promise that I watched the Sun Dolls. And the cheerleaders.
  12. Up there, yeah. But think of how many academic logos you can see at the game in terms of banners, academic USF shirts, Jumbotron ads, etc. There would have been a prancer at everyone of those.
  13. With nine big name games in the next ten years, UCF won't be the highlight for me.
  14. When the Bucs decide that they need a new stadium, the pirate ship goes and the U goes up. Thank God we got rid of "Prancer"
  15. I actually think that UCF stuck it in and broke it off. Alabama hasn't played an away game in thirty years (neutral site excepted). They are so pissed at UCF that they break a thirty year tradition just to sign with UCF's rival? Now, who in the SEC is going to go against Saban and now schedule one and ones? They may have just lost the SEC for a while. UCF seriously overestimated their position. If they don't sign some SoS games quickly, they may well be in trouble. I don't understand pissing off the same people who you are going to approach hat in hand and ask for a seat at the table. A lot like our Big 4 bill board, a little success can go to your head. But I think their AD has done some substantial damage relationship-wise along with their fans and media. The whole P6 embarrassment, self proclaimed Natty, alienating the other coaches in your conference, only considering one and ones, and pissing off the great Saban. I am beginning to understand why they are not Preeminent over there.
  16. You might be overestimating the cache of an AAC championship. Most casual fans don't even know what conference we are in.
  17. They will trickle in if we beat P5 teams, especially at home. But you are right - to meet our potential, we have to move up. I believe that these two for ones will give at least the chance of making enough of a racket that people will notice.
  18. Sunday mornings, grab the paper, a good Dominican cigar, Costa Rican peaberry coffee, medicate, and see what the people who still believe in reality are doing.
  19. Could you explain the clown comment? I've not seen a reason to denigrate her. She has done great things here at USF.
  20. John, if we don't win one of the first two, and having a couple of years between the 2nd and 3rd games, and figuring Saban may not be the coach seven years from now, could be a new AD in that time frame, then there would be no reason for their fans to want to see a second beatdown at their house. I think they opt for another foe after playing us two times. I think they have confidence that they could offer another team on short notice and seal the deal. It's all guessing at this point, but there are a few variables that make me believe that we may come out with a one and one and receive a buyout.
  21. Might help with SoS. Win the P5 games and SoS becomes pretty important. Ask the "National Co-champs" in Orlando.
  22. You, sir, have let it go. I have just a little too much Sicilian in me
  23. Hold on. The oldtimers here would probably love the occasional Southern Miss beatdown for paybacks in voting to keep us out of the CUSA. That p.o.'d alot of people. Probably the same people who are pissed that we didn't keep UCiF out of the AAC
