1. You are right. U of M only has about 10,000 students and charge them only $30,000/yr. That is only $300,000,000. And of those 10,000 students only about 6,000 of them are at the game. If we all look at this logically, the only Hurrican who did anything wrong was the one swinging his helmet. An FIU player (who we don't know because they go to FIU) blew up the defenseless holder. Someone else knocked down that same FIU player. Then all hell broke loose. BTW, I would love USF to have 60% of the student body at football games.
2. Look it is a lock. Ponton will go for 100 yards (CJL loves to run the ball). GROTHE (always capitalize the last name of the man) will pass for a smooth 260 or so and have anothe 30-40 on the ground. B. Williams might even get to 40 yds.
3. Remember Taurus Johnson is one of the fastest Bulls, in the spring he ran the fastest forty time at 4.44 (although a few notable speedy Bulls didn't run the 40 like Jenkins, Hester, Gilliam, Jamaal Jenkins), and has run the forty in 4.39, and at a HS showcase camp he was rumored to have run a 4.31.  I think you can see, especially on those WR bubble screens that he has an innate ability to accelerate in a hurry, and maintain speed off a cut which really legitimizes his speed.  He's a special athlete from that standpoint and his ability to catch the ball. Wait until Hester is back next year.  He's very similar to Ean Randolph in ability and talent but a bit bigger- height wise. Walt Smith fumbled against KU.  Ben Williams is an ample runner but this is the key statistic he had 14 carries for 55 yards for a 3.9ypc average, Ponton had 17 carries for 101 yards for a 5.95 ypc average- against the same defense, and virtually the same times...in fact Ponton's could have been more inflated had he not been forced to make two, one yard plunges into the end zone that skewed his stats negatively.  Nothing against Ben, he's an OK change of pace guy, and the OL has improved, but Williams after this week will be nothing more than a guy to spell Ponton and I expect over the next five games the stats to read more like 23 carries for Ponton, and 9 for Williams.  That's the difference between a 1-A RB, and a 1-AA RB. A 4.4 in the 40 yard dash only equates to about a 12 second 100m. When we get some guys that run a 4.2 then we will know the program has arrived. Taurus is extremely fast though!
4. PITT, no question. We owe them 1. Speaking of which UL owes us one also. That game might be scary. Don't be surprised if they TRY to embarrass us. Unfortunately, after we are done with them, they will owe us two!
5. USF was called for this: Illegal low block A player can not block a person below the knees. I was really not watching the UCF game that intently last night.
6. That got me yesterday! Once I noticed what was going on I had to kick myself. Very funny (AGAIN!)!!!
7. You got to be careful with that, flip, even with the "JK". /you doesn't always read eveyrthing in a post and sometimes jumps to erroneous conclusions ....  I am loving the love I am receiving for being an infrequent supplier of posts! Anyway with Matt 'FREAKIN' Grothe on the USF side anything is possible.
8. Gotta agree with the lack of adjustments in the second half.  Rutgers really managed to adjust to our o-line schemes and put a lot of pressure on Grothe.  That goes straight to the coaches, and they failed in this respect. 2nd week in arow coaches didnt answer bell I've seen the light.  Fire them all.  In fact, fire them THEN execute them. Screw this USF team.  They suck and they can't recruit.  Losing by 2 points to nationally ranked opponents is UNACCEPTABLE, even if we do have no kicker, punter, or running back.  The USF coaches are overpaid and are morons.  In fact, I'm burning my season tickets right now and will never attend another game. I'm demanding a refund and, unless I get it, I'm going to key Leavitt's car. As of right now, I'm adopting USC as my new favorite team for now and eternity.  Go Trojans! Thank you, Smazza, for showing me the light! What a great post. With all of our "deficencies", I only see bright things ahead! Maybe I am too much of an optimist.
9. WE ARE ALL MATT GROTHE. If this kid were in the 6' 3" to 6' 5" category they would be touting him as the next coming of _____ (fill in the blank). The most heart attacking player in USF's short history. Potential is out of this world.
10. Not having a running game hurts. Not having a reliable kicker hurts. CJL threw the "coaches under the bus" because he did not want to tell the truth. He did not want everyone to know that his crappy kicker cannot kick a 20 yard field goal. So yes the kicker cost us in the Kansas game. The kicking game in general cost us this passed week. We NEED a running game next to GROTHE and a kicking game to help out the "BEND but don't BREAK" defense. These two things and we would be 5-0 and ranked. Simple as that. Now we will struggle just to be bowl eligible.
11. That is excellent. All the fans saw it on Saturday! About time Jim came around.
12. Unfortunately, from what I have read and what CJL has said, it seems as if he is healthy Pat Julmiste will start. From this fans stand point there is no question who the better QB is, but I don't make those decisions?
13. They have not gone on sale yet  :-/! Incorrect!  They went on sale a few weeks ago (1 800-GoBulls)....$30.00 ea. they will be mailed out as soon as USF receives them from UCF. I know message boarders think they know everythig, but they don't. I just bought my season tickets July 28th and inquired about the UCF game. I was told it will not go on sale until mid to late August. Just want to put you on.
14. If Julmiste is the worst QB in division I college FB as all the prognosticators say what does that say about the rest that they cannot beat him out?
15. Correct me if I am wrong, but a college graduate usually needs to get a JOB and establish themselves before they can consider buying season tickets. This is my first year as a season ticket holder. I am a graduate of the Class of '03, but I went on to law school and now I am FINALLY in a position where I could buy season tickets. I think that this is the case for many recent graduates; need to start a family/career/finish schooling before buying those tix. Season tickets start at just $119. If what you say is on the mark...then the classes of 01, '02 and '03 aren't exactly knocking the doors down either. Remember  to buy season tickets you also must give a donation.  Also, let's presume that those people might want a companion ticket.  SO, double that cost, add a $100 donation, and then you're getting the effect.  Now, tell someone that's making say $40k, with a car payment, insurance, apartment, utilities, and entertainment and misc. living expenses to insure they carve out roughly $350 plus service charges, and tax.  Bring your total to over $375 minimum for what's undoubtly the worst seats in the house.  That's a car payment, a rent payment, etc.  That's a person that's roughly making $1,200 every two weeks and the expenses I mentioned above, presuming they try to live comfortably, will be minimally $1,800, before weekly entertainment, groceries, gas, clothes, etc. It isn't that easy.  Oh, and don't forget your alumni association dues, and....it all adds up. The 119 tickets are in the endzone and do not require a donation. 2 cost me 244 out the door and that is a much better situation than paying for 2 tickets every week. Season tickets will always be a better seat that walk up tickets. They want season ticket holders and therefore they will make it more appealing. Have your facts right before you start spewing nonsense.
16. It is shameful that potentially the second best team in the Big East could end up in the Bowl formerly known as Houston. I do not believe that was the vision Mr. Tranghese had.
17. If we played anything other than man I must have missed it (I don't miss many things when it comes to basketball). I went to that game not as a homer or a hater, but an alumni concerned for the future of my basketball team. I know a thing or two about basketball and I saw none of that. If Capko was under the hoop that is because Wallace #2 (the man he was guarding) was there also. Believe me it was not by design. Anyway, do you really think having the shortest guy on your team that actually plays underneath the hoop is a sound defensive strategy? McCullum is a good man. He gets his players to play hard. He is a mediocre basketball coach. If not mediocre, at least inconsistent. Do not forget that this very team lost to the likes of Florida International, Bethune Cookman, Rutgers, Providence, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Just because they beat GU does not override that they lost to Bethune Cookman. Please take note that before Saturday the biggest victory was against Stetson.
18. It is not about the talent it is about the coaching. I went to the Georgetown game and saw 7 guys beat that team in spite of their coach. Our offense was stagnant to say the least. Not once did I see great ball or player movement within that offense. On defense they played man-to-man for 40 minutes. That is why our opponentt found it so easy to score on out of bounds plays. Also, that victory is tainted by the fact Georgetown played their worst game of the season. They missed at least 6 layups from their backdoor cuts. Yes, coach has the young men playing hard on defense, but there was no discipline from what I saw. Also, offensive sets did not exist.
19. With that said I think this thread should be shut down.
