  1. sorry but this offense is built on shooting threes. not inside play. I think that's pretty obvious. rebounds have absolutely nothing to do with offensive system. it's great that he is aggressive going to the basket. he is exactly what you want for a modern day big man. shoot threes and attack the basket. interesting that he has 30 points from 3 pointers in last 4 games and 24 from 2 point range
  2. we were ranked #11 in the country for our offensive efficiency in the last game. a game in which we hit 18 three pointers. we only had 14 two point baskets and 20 points in the paint. we only shot 10 free throws. we rank in the mid 30's for offensive efficiency over our last 3 games. we average 26.7 three point attempts per game and have been shooting +42% from 3. if you think we're winning because of our inside presence then you haven't been paying attention.
  3. Pryor shot 27 threes in the last 4 games. we have been outscored 136-88 inside the paint over the last 4 games. we have outscored our opponents 132-87 on 3 point shots over the last 4 games. analytics don't lie. shooting 3's increase offensive efficiency. they give you a better chance to win.
  4. love it. keep jacking the threes. offensive efficiency is through the roof. set a school record for made threes
  5. If gregory were still here, Pryor wouldn't even be on the roster. He doesn't fit the old school big man role that gregory preferred.
  6. two different offensive philosophies. CAAR is running a modern offense where 3 pointers and driving to the basket is a focus. CBG ran an offense around a traditional big man who played with his back to the basket. CAAR wants better shooters. CBG wanted better athletes. Pryor is thriving because the offense is designed for a big man who can shoot 3's and drive to the basket. our defense is designed to stop the 3's and defend the rim. we are ranked 72 in defensive efficiency this year where we were 168 last year. our offensive efficiency is up as well. we should only get better as there are a plethora of guys that fit this system as opposed to CBG where you needed a quality old school big man and they are harder to find
  7. I believe that's how ucf is using tax payer money for their stadium upgrades Millions in tourist tax dollars funding to go toward county expansion MYNEWS13.COM Several projects were presented Tuesday.
  8. they've beaten texas and kansas this year
  9. I wonder if fsu will have to sue the sec or big 10 to let them in.
  10. what? Kyle Filipowski has already shot more career threes than Laettner did in his 4 years. He isn't even done with his 2nd year yet. NCAA Tournament: How The 3-Pointer Reshaped March Madness - FloHoops WWW.FLOHOOPS.COM The introduction of the 3-pointer to college basketball in 1986-87 reshaped the game and remains the great equalizer for Cinderella stories.
  11. exactly what? we shot 30 three pointers last night. they outscored us in the paint 42-18 old timers are rolling over in their graves
  12. no I said he averaged 2 three attempts per game. Basketball has changed. Perhaps you aren't paying attention. analytics prove that shooting threes or attacking the basket is the most efficient way to score. Defending the 3 and protecting the rim is most important on defense. playing with a traditional big man or shooting mid range shots is old school. Why do you think the NBA wants nothing to do with Zack Edey? Pryor is more suitable to modern day basketball. He can shoot 3's and he is a high energy guy that can attack the rim. He also defends the rim well.
  13. lol Pryor is a modern day big. he can hit 3's (he did shoot 7 3's right?) and he can run to the rim. thank god our coach knows about modern day basketball unlike many of our fans. we shot 30 three pointers last night. memphis outscored us in the paint 42-18
  14. odd then that fsu has the money to retain even though they are in acc....kind of derails his argument Notre Dame lost a coach and they have all the money in the world.
  15. lol he averages 2 three point attempts per game. him "overshooting" 3's has never been an issue. we took 4 less threes than we did last game. great to see his high energy. great defense this game was won on turnovers. we scored 28 off theirs. they scored 4 off ours. they had 18. we had 6.
  16. no you just wondered if them shooting 12 less 3's led to the free throw differential which led to the loss....
  17. here's a hypothetical. say we shot 12 less 3's (15 less points)and went to the basket and was fouled every single time. that would be 24 more free throws at 70% (our average) would be 16.8 points. 1.8 points more if a foul was called on every single possession instead of shooting those 12 3's
  18. actually they are not. we scored 15 more points on 3's than them. it's the reason the game was that close and yet you and others think it's the reason why we lost. if we had just shot average on the 19 free throws we took we would have won. even shooting 22 less free throws than them.
  19. oh I thought you were the one that brought up the fact that we shot 12 more 3's than them and maybe that was the reason.... those 12 3's and the 15 points that came with them give you 1.25 pps. nobody in the country has an offensive efficiency number that high. unfortunately we didn't get the calls and they went to the line 20+ more times. it happens. doesn't mean we should abandon shooting 3's. it still gives you the best chance to win. oh and we will have games where we shoot 3's poorly and will get blown out. still doesn't mean we should change Similar to figure 3, the shots from 0-2 feet are still the most efficient. However, after these shots, 3-point shots are most efficient due to their higher value than 2-point shots. As a result, for most players, if they cannot get to within 2 feet of the basket, they should be attempting a 3-pointer. I will emphasize that this is a general strategy, Data on 3-Point Shot in the NBA's Trends and Team Success NYCDATASCIENCE.COM The skills we demoed here can be learned through taking Data Science with Machine Learning bootcamp with NYC Data Science Academy. Data Introduction Data tells us...
  20. we scored 15 more points on 3's than them. over the 12 shots means it was 1.25 points per shot. that's like shooting 62.5% from inside the arc. it's the only reason the game was even close. considering they only scored 4 more points in the paint than us suggests we were just as aggressive old timers keep suggesting we shoot less 3's and play more inside. analytics suggests otherwise and I'm glad our coach is smart enough to realize this. it's finally fun to watch our offense
  21. 22 actually. it was a 4 pt road loss to a team that is 11-5 this year. some people need to put it in perspective.
  22. come on Trip.....we're a blue blood compared to UAB. I'm amazed that some of our fans look down on other programs.
  23. funny how people act after 1 loss. we shot 36% from 3. better get used to it old timer. it's how he is building this team. BTW we had 24 points in the paint compared to their 28 what didn't help was that they had 21 more points from the free throw line than we did.
  24. Taggart was responsible for our only two seasons where we finished ranked in top 25. He did improve Oregon's record from the previous year and had a top 10 offense and a 6-2 record in which Herbet played. he screwed up his career by hopping around but he certainly was good for us here.
