  1. nah far from over. P2 will break off. probably take a few acc schools with them. we will move up and be a part of the best of the rest division I have no doubt that you wouldn't mind going 0-12. From what I presume, you don't even go to the games.
  2. Big 16 and ACC will be one bid leagues. ironically smu's two losses were against tcu and oklahoma. if they do what liberty did and not play anyone of note they would have been in. same with tulane if they had beaten smu.
  3. didn't say I want to be here long term. certainly don't want to be a whipping boy either. I think we can compete in ACC or even big 16. I'm enjoying winning for once. I'm ok with aac for now.
  4. and yet I'd be willing to bet we make the playoffs before any of those teams do.
  5. outliers. blown out and covid year. last stand alone title was in 1995 before that 1936 yeah sign me up for winning a title once every 60 years.... at that rate they should get another one by 2055. of course they have added some pretty tough programs recently. name the last time south carolina won the sec they were 4-4 in the sec this year they have played in championship game once and got beat 56-17 imagine how tough it will be with OU and texas moving in
  6. and you are complaining about our conference and saying we need out and using out of conference game wins as your examples. we can still play and win games against those programs. we can also make the playoffs easier in this conference and play games that actually matter.
  7. of course the administration doesn't want to move down. they make a ton of money. I bet their fans would enjoy winning more often give me an example of an even remotely successful conference season for one of those programs and I'll show you an outlier.
  8. and yet we played them when we were in a lower level conference.....and it's not even a blip on the radar for their fans oh and they got nowhere near the discussion that beating a top 5 wvu at home got and they were in our lowly conference as well. they were one off wins. the way you make noise is to win your conference and then beat a good team in a bowl. nobody nationally cares about a win against what ends up being a 7-6 p4 program
  9. all of which vandy, indiana, northwestern, south carolina, etc etc have had for quite some time. I guarantee if we win the aac next year and get a playoff spot it will far surpass any experience we had in the big east.
  10. we shook the world against what turned out to be mediocre teams. fsu finished 7-6. miami 7-6. auburn 8-5. clemson 6-7. notre dame 8-5 I loved the wins but they were one off wins. we are 1-3 against florida state 1-5 against miami heck we are 2-7 against rutgers 4-6 against temple for god's sake we don't even have a winning record against two of the worst programs in the history of college football. I enjoyed the wvu win much more than any of the others. top 5 team at home in a conference battle. a team that finished the year 11-2.
  11. funny but our biggest crowd in our basketball history came in the wasteland that is the aac against a conference opponent oh and the crowd was 90% usf fans. seems to me you were scrambling to get a ticket
  12. so having UCF's recent success wasn't more enjoyable for their fans than say Vandy's recent history? ask WVU fans if they liked their time in the BE more than Big 12. BTW I would like for us to join ACC or big 12. I think we could compete in football. I would hate for us to be in SEC. Think we would be perennial doormat.
  13. I think you'll find in the not so distant future that being in the aac will benefit us in reaching the football playoffs as well as the ncaa tournament. Just as it did UCF. Those wishing for a "better" conference would be good to realize that the step up in competition will result in more losses and less success nationally. Sure maybe the bank account improves but at the expense of fan experience. Just look at all the others before us. FAU made a run to the final four playing in c-usa. They are finding out that the aac wasteland isn't exactly a cakewalk.
  14. I have done it in the past. Hated strong hire. loved scott hire. I think it's pointless now to think one way or the other before we see the evidence. I guess I'm hopeful now when we make a hire and will give the benefit of the doubt until proven wrong.
  15. drives me crazy anytime a team does it. you're right. either results in a turnover or a bad shot that's rushed to beat the shot clock.
  16. tell that to fairleigh dickinson, or st peter's or north texas. they all beat purdue and zach edy in the last 3 ncaa tourneys. we have 3 guys shooting over 40% from 3. that's how you win in today's game better floor spacing. better ball movement. keeps lanes open for drives to the basket. statistically it's like having 3 big guys that shoot +60% from the field.
  17. the problem is some of you see it only one way every time. many of you wrote this off as a bad hire before we ever played a game. did the same with football. maybe let a single season play out before deciding what type of hire we made.
  18. we played passive in the last 10 minutes. think we realized a game isn't over until it's actually over.
  19. we let them back into that game. didn't go for the kill. they had 16 field goals made with 10 minutes left in the game and 14 the rest of the way. we didn't attack on offense. we kept pulling the ball out and waiting for 10 seconds left on the play clock to run our set offense. results in bad shots hopefully we learn that we need to be aggressive until the final whistle. move the ball and keep shooting 3's
  20. they scored 86 points. 41 in the last 8 minutes. defense almost lost this game. the and ones, flagrant fouls and wide open threes in the end let them back in.
  21. glad we pulled it out. giving up 41 points in 8 minutes doesn't usually result in a win. not a big fan of sitting on a lead.
  22. I think you have to defend the 3 first and foremost. 6 of the top 8 scorers are guards who all shoot 3's at 34% or better. 2 of the 6 well over 40% including their leading scorer. Those aren't guys you let get open looks by playing zone. UAB's big beat us at the free throw line. Only had 12 points from the field. They only had 28 points in the paint to our 24. They went to the line 41 times in that game.we went 19 and shot 47% from free throw line. It was such a poorly officiated game it was ridiculous. Pryor fouled out as did Hines. Knox, Miguel and Walker each finished with 4 fouls. Not going to win many games when the refs take out the better part of your lineup due to foul trouble. Playing our style doesn't guarantee you win every game but it gives you the best chance to win. You shoot 3's and attack the rim. defend 3's and defend the rim.
  23. smaller stadiums are done for economic reasons. they make more money. they don't care about casual fans that won't pay a sufficient price to cover the cost of the expansion. just back of the envelope math says that a 350M stadium with 35,000 seats costs 10k per seat to build. a $20 ticket for 6 home games generates $120 per year. That's $2,400 over 20 years. Doesn't come close to covering the cost of expansion. I know the math isn't exact but there is a cost/benefit to consider.
