  1. seems to me that the stadium isn't the only thing they have invested in. we have a new indoor practice facility. I believe a new football center is in the works. They have hired new coaches in both major men's sports. I'm sure there are other upgrades planned as well. you constantly complain about how we have been left behind and now that they are trying to do something about it you complain about that too. perhaps you should just go be a fan of ucf.
  2. if they were of the impression that it was needed to be considered for a move to acc or big 12 then yes they needed to.
  3. Not sure you realize the spike in construction costs we had with the great inflation of 2020. prices of construction materials are up almost 60% from 2014. That means a $266M stadium now costs roughly $425M. 4. it doesn't leave you one dimensional. Playing this way allows cuts to the basket, drives to the basket, etc. It creates space on the offensive end. Heck you can even post up with a guy like Youngblood when he has an advantage. Playing with a true big man that can only post up clogs the lane. it slows the ball down. there is a reason why the NBA didn't want Edey after his national player of the year last year. He is one dimensional. Basketball has changed with the 3 point shot. Look at the stats. Teams shoot more and more of them since the advent of the shot. Attempts have steadily increased over time. Analytics shows that it gives you a better chance to win. The NBA wants 3 and D guys. They want big men that can shoot the three. we will never go back to the 90's. Reggie Miller led the league in made 3's with 1,500 of them during the 90's. That was 300 more than anyone else in the league. Curry made 2,500 of them in the 2010's. Glen Rice was #2 for made 3's in the 90's. He would rank #15 in the 2010's. It's just like in baseball where everyone now understands that hitting home runs gives you the best chance for a win. even if you strike out more. back in the 70's and 80's everyone was trying to hit for average. Best 3 point shooters by decade in the nba 1980-1990 Dale Ellis 472 made 1990-2000 Reggie Miller 1,543 made 2000-2010 Ray Allen 1,974 made 2010-2020 Steph Curry 2,483 made there is a clear trend since the advent of the 3 point shot. they will never go back to the bully ball of the 90's.
  5. I'd like to see walker develop a 3 point shot. it doesn't look bad when he shoots it just needs to put the reps in. get somebody else just like that and I would be happy.
  6. our offense worked this year BECAUSE he didn't play a true big man. That's what stretch 5's allow you to do. Stretch the defense. I guess you would take Pryor off the court for this true big man. Keeps driving lanes wide open. keeps the ball moving on the perimeter. some of you people need to get out of the 90's. modern day basketball is played without true big men. it's all about shooting 3's and driving to the basket now.
  7. we shot 40% from 3 and scored 83 points. they had 7 more rebounds than us. not having corey walker is what did us in.
  8. the best players in history played with a chip on their shoulder. Brady Jordan etc. No greater motivator.
  9. interesting fact about the shark episode was that it aired at the beginning of season 5. Happy Days had 11 seasons so it was nowhere near the beginning of the end.
  10. SEC won't take on a bunch of leftovers just for the sake of expanding. dilutes their product and means less revenue for current programs. there is a reason most pro sports leagues settle around 30 teams. add big 10 and sec and you have nfl lite.
  11. once they realize they can take all the revenue, they will split off completely. this is just a giant first step to that happening.
  12. we will just become another division. above fcs but below sec big 10
  13. sec and big 10 will break off. it will destroy acc and big 12 tv money. networks won't want to pay ridiculous money for their streaming rights.they will be closer to g5 than they will p2.
  14. they aren't killing it. there will be a split though and honestly there needs to be. most division 1 schools can't compete with the top 30 or so programs financially.they need to break off and form their minor leagues. It's gotten to the point where schools are becoming fiscally irresponsible when it comes to what they spend on athletics. most schools operate in the red. Maybe if they split then some fiscal responsibility will return to these schools that can't compete.
  15. Gregory I'm sure was a nice guy but 5 of his 6 seasons were losing records. never finished above 7th in conference.
  16. we would eat their zone alive. shooters break zone defenses. I saw them run a 1 man zone against wisconsin earlier this year. Edey just stood under the basket. Goldin had 15 in the 2nd half. all of those in the last 12 minutes. Our defense completely broke down and we played way too conservative on offense. I believe I heard that they scored 41 points in the last 8 minutes. That's a 205 points per game pace. That's terrible all around defense. not just on goldin. UConn is legit. Sometimes you just have to pick your poison
  17. Purdue has been eliminated in their last three ncaa tourneys by #16 Farleigh Dickinson #15 St Peter's and #13 North Texas. Edey can't defend the perimeter at all. Pryor would be a nightmare matchup for him. Three point shooting teams that get hot are why upsets happen. You absolutely don't take a shooter off the floor for a slug defender.
  18. doesn't take a brinks truck. the 10k people that were there yesterday x $10 per month = $1.2M per year
  19. we currently have the longest winning streak in the country. we just won our first ever regular season conference championship and it wasn't even close. I'm baffled that people think we need to change things. Playing 4 guards who can shoot with a stretch 5 IS our system. of course it means we will get out rebounded consistently. It's why we are winning. We shoot 3's and we stretch the floor. we defend the perimeter. who cares if we get out rebounded. who cares if we give up more points in the paint than we get.we are WINNING. BTW you have to find the minutes from somewhere if you want to give them up for guys who can box out. should we give up pryor's minutes? maybe one of the guards? Maybe Stroud should get some of youngblood's minutes? He's a much better rebounder. I guess you could play walker and pryor at the same time. maybe give walker some of reid's minutes. or miguel's minutes only a usf fan would think we aren't WINNING good enough
  20. maybe just maybe he realizes that it's better to trot out 4 guards who can shoot +40% from 3 out there with a stretch 5 that can hit them at +33%. you don't need old school big men to win in modern basketball. there is a reason why the nba doesn't want true bigs anymore. maybe our coach is smart enough to realize this (seems to be working just fine this year) maybe we should beg for tchewa back. after all he is averaging 7 points per game on 25 minutes. he can have some of pryor's minutes.
  21. Some people on here keep claiming we need a big man to score inside in order to win. I disagree. I think we need shooters and specifically 3 point shooters to spread the floor. It gives teams the best chance to win and yes I think you keep shooting them even if they aren't going in. That's what shooters do. Our coach seems to agree as he plays predominantly 4 guard sets with a stretch 5 in Pryor. BTW I don't want Stroud or Hines necessarily shooting them either.
  22. yeah we need someone to clog the lanes on offense and to kill the ball movement... this offense needs a stretch 5. it's why it works. Oh and I guess you would want to give this new big Pryor's minutes??
