  1. He does seem to have the right approach. Let’s hope it translates to big wins and then he lives up to his words and doesn’t immediately go looking for the next big thing. That would make him truly unique in his professsion.
  2. I lost count of your metaphors about halfway through the pod . . . special teams/door jam, something, something. Enjoyed the listen. Keep it up.
  3. Skip sucked, but if you’d given Charlie more time, he would have completely cratered. I work now with a guy who was in the USF athletic leadership under Willie and Charlie, and he said it was obvious that Charlie planned to take the team Willie left him, win big and parlay it immediately back into a P5 job. When that didn’t happen, he hadn’t put any effort into recruiting and wanted out as soon as possible. Didn’t want to be at USF at all. That said, Skip’s recruiting may have been even worse. The team he left Taggart was the smallest and SLOWEST in program history. Scott was in over his head from the start. If he’d taken over a team that wasn’t a complete and total wreck, he may still be here. He didn’t need his first job as a head coach to be a complete rebuild. He wasn’t ready for that.
  4. Nothing scientific about it, but we won A LOT more before we started wearing all these different uniform/helmet combinations. And if it’s so important to the players, maybe we have players with the wrong priorities. Yes, I am an old man.
  5. Uniforms are a part of a school’s branding - and should be consistent, just like all branding. When we wear 12 different uniforms for 12 games, it doesn’t help us, no matter what the kids think.
  6. Stormtroopers are slow, incompetent and REALLY bad shots.
  7. So before the season opened last year, they released a picture of this helmet and everyone cheered, then they proceeded to not wear it. THIS IS the USF helmet. Why is that such a difficult concept? They can wear a specialty helmet every now and then, but this should be the primary lid . . .
  8. Snyder: College football’s silly season is in full swing THEATHLETIC.COM What we’re finding all throughout college football this week is an enhanced state of coaching paranoia.
  9. Don’t make no nevermind to me, really. But it is a rather worthless effort. I just hope we can get back to the days when a depth chart is of no consequence because we already know who our best guys are.
  10. Took them 5 games last year to score a goal. Two shutouts to start this season. Let’s hope they respond like they ultimately did in 2022.
  11. 17 of the 22 guys listed at the top of the depth chart “ORs” are returning from last year. Hmmmm
  12. There was a Twitter link in my original post, but I don’t see it anymore - Keon Young
  13. Conversation starter engaged. My work here is done.
  14. Most sports cliches are junk, but the “if you have 2 QBs, you have no QB” stands the test.
  15. Well, yes, last I checked they have to have one guy start. My point is they have to stick with him and not go to some kind of rotation. My apologies if that was not clear.
  16. I know we promised only positive vibes, so I hope this doesn’t break the rule, but I wanted to throw this out into the Bull universe. If Coach Go and Joel Gordon can’t make a decision on the starting QB and stick with it, that’s a big red flag for me. They have good options. Pick one and be decisive. QB rotations do not work and I’d never consider it unless my guys had very different skill sets. Bohanon and Brown do not. I don’t care if it’s Brice Archie, pick one guy and ride. Now, here’s the amateur psychologist in me explaining why I think it could be BB. From the things Coach Go has said, and in taking him to media day, all the indicators right now point to Gerry. If Go truly believes that not announcing a starter until game time gives him an edge, then I’d be going with the other guy. But again, I don’t think GB and BB have vastly different skill sets, so the surprise factor is minimal.
  17. Led No. 11 UF 2 sets to 1 but, predictably, couldn’t finish the deal. A positive, however, that they were competitive. First time they’ve taken 2 sets from the Gators in 33 years.
  18. How long was he “committed” - a week? As soon as a bigger offer came around . . .
