  1. Gregory almost beat Houston... The margin of error in modern college basketball isn't the talent on the floor but the ability of the coach with X's and O's and most importantly the ability of the coach to motivate the players to go 100% all the time. 90% is no longer good enough to beat even an "average" team. There is just too much parody. I liked Gregory but I don't think he got 100% out of his players. He got about 90% this year and back with David Collins and company he only got about 75% or less. We have had the talent but lacked the motivation. Anyone can get players these days.
  2. Agreed! Nothing to lose then. What we’ve been doing hasn’t worked so this seems like a change. We will see. Hope it works out and I’m willing to wait.
  3. Shocked so many people have made judgement before the first recruit has been signed or the first game played. I’ll reserve judgement until he coaches a game. Bobby Paschal didn’t seem like a splash hire in the 80’s either. Give it time.
  4. Awesome!! I remember those early years and that defense flying around. I never doubted that defense and knew the play would be made when it had to be made. The last few years if a game would require a stop or a play I would just turn off the TV and know it wasn't going to happen and I was right. I have a feeling things are turning around. Let's get dirty and gritty and make it happen.
  5. I’m not a CBG fan by any means but he does deserve credit for a team that hasn’t stopped playing. Here in Ohio the Buckeyes are a team that has completely quit. To me, that falls on the coach. This team is having some fun playing and is learning to win the close ones. CBG does deserve credit for that. I also believe we are seeing an intentional drive to be a higher scoring more offensive minded team as opposed to the grind it out low scoring defense of the past. Coach is evolving and maybe with that comes more wins and better players. I’m inclined to give him a couple of more years and see if this growth continues.. Surely, despite his awful overall record and poor preparation of the past, we can all see something has changed and I like it.
  6. They said the paradigm changed in college basketball with schools that were focusing on the "one and done's". Then, reality set in, and the truth is that a team full of mature upper classmen that were developed in a stable system were beating these one and done schools. The same is true in football as well. If you have a stable program that is developing players and keeping those players then I would take that team over a team full of portal players that have no time to gel. Portal players will not always plug in and work in a system and may not gel. In my humble opinion, our team should be mostly made up of highschool players and then plug and fill with portal players when the right opportunity arises. Any given class may have more or less portal players depending on the fit and availability but the focus, even in the age of NIL, should be to recruit kids that want to be Bulls and love playing with us and developing them. If some leave then so be it. That can't be helped. Consistently winning only focusing on the portal is fools gold, for the most part.
  7. Not ranked yet meaning we are early on him. Could be an outright stud. Don’t judge too early. Trust the process
  8. I believe this team is good. Maybe one of the best teams we've had in a long time from what I've seen. I felt early in the season we had talent but it just didn't gel at all. The team was clunky and it cost us some early season losses that otherwise would have / should have been wins. Maybe I'm overlooking something but I don't really blame that on CBG. I have coached 24 seasons in 2 sports at multiple levels and I've had issues with teams coming together and then something clicks. I feel like that has happened here. I think I have a wait and see mentality. I do agree that if we lay an egg the rest of the season CBG should pay the price for that because we definitely have the players to succeed. The UC game will tell us a lot. Go Bulls,
  9. CBG isn’t going anywhere. Team is competitive and showing progress. I don’t see it happening
  10. You guys criticizing are absurd. Houston is the #1, yes 1, team in the country and they wanted no more of us. Sometimes just enjoy a good game and say less…
  11. According to the write up he was the #62 rated DT out of highschool. This could be a big bodied DT being brought in here. We will see
  12. CAG has said he’ll call the plays. He said it might change as time goes on but for now he is taking the reins of the offense. This was said in a radio interview I listened to. I don’t remember where I found the link to that broadcast. It was on this board somewhere.
  13. This is absolutely correct. Florida is full of RB’s and WR’s and so on. We need the big men to win.
  14. Look at how BB spread the ball around to receivers who were basically MIA early in the season. I think that was for two reasons: 1. BB was throwing receivers open more than GB. Throwing receivers open is a required skill when there isn’t the separation. 2. BB wasn’t only locking in on Weaver and was working through progressions and whoever was open would get the ball regardless of who the name was on the jersey. Personally, I thought BB did a better job with our team than GB but some of that could have been coming from CJS. It’s hard to really know all the dynamics at play. I trust CAG to pick whoever gives us the best chance to win. He knows we have to win and win now and I don’t think he gives a rats - whose feelings get hurt.
  15. No way I would sit BB after what I saw at the end of last season. However, if GB is that far ahead of him then you have to go with that and hope BB doesn't leave. It would be tough to sacrifice BB for all those years for one year remaining for GB. BB is the future, in my opinion
  16. I'm an engineer. I went to graduate school at a premier engineering school in Cleveland, Ohio for graduate school. I was a massive minority and most of the students were Asian. Is that because Asian's make better engineers? No, not necessarily. A lot of it is cultural and how many people of various cultures and races want to be graduate students in engineering school. The issues for why there aren't more black coaches I'm sure are wide and varied. I just don't believe it is racism because in college sports, especially football, it is so important to win or coaches and AD's lose their jobs. I truly don't believe people care and they shouldn't. I think over time as black coaches are more successful the numbers will grow. I do believe that is a good thing but at any given point in time I don't believe hiring coaches should have anything to do with race or skin color. I truly don't care. Just win baby. Go Bulls.
  17. Trust me, there isn’t racism at work here. College football is huge business with tons of money at stake. No one cares about a persons skin color when hiring, they only care about winning and winning big both on and off the field. Is a black coach gets wins then so be it. If they are yellow or purple no one cares. Players also want to play for winners more than they want to play for a person based on skin color. College football is truly a meritocracy both in the view of fans and players. Like I said, hire the best people and win and this discussion becomes moot. It’s truly a waste of time and drags identity politics into a discussion about sports. Drop it.
  18. Who cares what color a persons skin is. I don’t look at it and don’t care. Seriously people this was settled decades ago. Most people are over this. I certainly am. Let’s talk credentials and skill not skin color
  19. Who knows if Coach Go is going to work out but I totally get the hire. The more I listen to him the more I believe I have made the same decision. Let's go get it! Go Bulls.
  20. Awesome! I never knew. Not sure what rock I’ve been under but CAG brought this up and made me interested. Love that Grothe is helping to run it to. One of the best, if not the best, gun slinger to lead the Bulls. BB can lead us back to those golden years. Thanks
  21. I love the hire. If he can keep the points allowed in the 20’s we will win most games. Remember the name of the game is to score more than the opponent. We don’t need someone to allow 15 points when we are scoring 40.
  22. No fluff, just blue collar. I like it. He isn't polished and doesn't care. My type of guy.
  23. Where will we be able to stream the public university introduction of CAG at 11:30am?
  24. After watching these videos I am soooooo glad we didn't choose PrimeTime. That isn't the culture I want representing the Bulls. We need and deserve better.
