  1. Gene Chizik is a multi-millionaire. He has been to the mountaintop and has since fallen in an avalanche of biblical proportions. If you follow Auburn, you know they have been even worse on defense than offense the last few years . . . and that's saying alot. The only good thing in their overall downward trend was their special teams play. Four consecutive top-ten recruiting classes seems not to have mattered at all. Basically I have two points to make. The first is that I would question Gene's motivation, based on where he is financially. We don't need any more coaches coming to Florida to retire. Second, if he was a defensive mastermind, I would have expected Auburn to have shown some defensive improvement over the last couple of years, given all the resources that Auburn has. On the positive side, Gene is a classy individual and says all the right things in public . . . much like our present head coach. GB!
  2. Has it really come down to this? I'm actually wondering what's best for USF in the long run . . . I mean, should I attend the Pitt game, support the team, and hope we win? Or should I stay home and hope we get pummeled, perhaps increasing the chances of Skip's departure? I guess I need to know what's in our AD's mind in order to reach a logical conclusion to my dilemma. If Doug's going to retain Skip regardless, then I suppose I should go and hope we win. GB!
  3. I would agree if you had said "Cuse minus the basketball team". GB!
  4. Sorry, but I'm not interested in anything Skip has to say. I only pay attention to things he actually does . . . which is nothing, so far. GB!
  5. Yeah, my bowl hopes took a major hit in Muncie, and were completely extinguished after the Cuse debacle. GB!
  6. How bad and depressing is it around here? It's sooooo bad that nobody even cares that UCiF lost yesterday. Com'on guys, where's the glee? Well, we just saw what happens when we give our coaching staff two weeks to iron things out. The bright side is that we'll have eight fewer days to screw things up before our next game. I'm supremely confident we can go up to Cincy, kick a field goal or two, and give our young guys some more confidence for the Pitt game. Watch parties anyone? Next year, we'll look back on this season and wish we were as good as 3-9. GB!
  7. Without your leadership and vision, this moment could not have been possible. You have not only orchestrated another remarkable milestone in the history of USF athletics, but you have now cemented your legacy in the minds of USF fans worldwide for all eternity. We look forward to your continued leadership as we get to relive this moment again and again in the coming seasons. No AD could have possibly done for us what you have managed to achieve in the past year. Go Bulls!
  8. Assuming nothing happens to alter its current trajectory, I say NO . . . not by a long shot. This year, we will continue to be semi-competitive on the field and may even be able to avoid having the worst W-L record in our history. However, next year is a different story. There is the distinct possibility of going winless, which will result in several more Holtz-era firsts. I don't have to spell those out for you. Not only will we likely have our worst record ever, but we will be less competitive in our losing. Therefore, if changes are to be made, I think they need to be made as quickly as possible. Tweaking the scheme or firing a coordinator will not have much long-term impact IMO. If radical changes are made now, 2013 still looks bad, with an improving outlook in 2014. In conclusion, I predict rock bottom occurs in 2013. GB!
  9. It certainly looks like it's time for some austerity in the football budget. No Vero Beach, no indoor practice facility, etc. It's highly likely the football revenue stream will drop off in the coming weeks, months, and years. I think we need to move the football offices to some trailers until these coaches can produce a win. I also think they could learn to take out their own trash, to cut down on custodial expenses. GB!
  10. Try this one . . . http://www.theonion.com/articles/nervous-university-of-south-florida-football-team,5881/
  11. I wonder what Charlie Jackson is doing now. My favorite moment of his was when he dove into the that big scrum of Cincy defenders and then to everyone's total amazement, popped out the other side for a big play. Maybe the old times are deceiving my mind. GB!
  12. glad I had no money on the game; I would have taken FSU to cover. GB!
  13. he took a tough blow to the head . . . looked like he was punch drunk . . . surprised he got back in the game, frankly. GB!
  14. Can't speculate on the final score, but I think if CJL had been in charge, we would have taken more chances on defense and had more PF penalties, including one on the coach himself, for arguing too much with the officials. The offense would not have been much different, except BJ would have never thrown the ball away on our last possession and we would have attempted a 50-60 yard FG. The post-game presser would have been much shorter. At the end of the season we would end up 8-5. with a minor bowl bid and no BE championship. GB!
  15. I didn't think there was that much swarming, except when we had a blitz called. I thought our CBs did a decent job in run defense, but they didn't get alot of help from the LBs or safties. I saw alot of players frozen, waiting in their lanes, expecting the ball carrier to come their way, rather than heading toward the ball. Too much thinking and not enough reacting for my taste. Still, I guess it's an improvement over what we're used to seeing. GB!
  16. I think BJ was still woozy from the big hit to his head. He was clearly not in his right mind . . . in four years he has probably thrown the ball away about 5 times total. GB!
  17. We clearly played with more emotion and effort this game, but in the end, it was the same ole problems with TOs and untimely/stupid penalties. Minus 8, or whatever, is the main reason we are 2-3 at this point. We forced a couple of fumbles, but didn't come close to creating an interception. Can't believe our KO return team had a major fail for the second game in a row. We're lucky that time ran out in the first half. Kinda surprised the ACC refs didn't give FSU another untimed down. GB!
  18. I would have reversed two FSU pass completions. Perhaps the slowness of ESPN's replays had something to do with it. Wouldn't be surprised if our coaching staff has a few words for conference officials once they review the film. Probably wouldn't have changed the outcome of the game, but it might have made things more interesting at the end. GB!
  19. Fsu was not at the top of its game tonight, and became sorta one-dimensional after they went up 30-10. I'm sure they could've scored another TD at the end if they had needed one. GB!
  20. I hope everyone realizes that, even if the team plays better than they have ever played in the last two years, we could still lose by 30 points or more on Saturday. I would definitely say this is a PRIDE game, but I'm not sure how much of that remains around here. GB!
  21. If last season didn't motivate the team to excel, I honestly don't see how our performance in the last two games will lead to a different outcome this season. Nevertheless, it's helping us Bulls fans to become more humble . . . Thanks Skip for the great life lesson. GB!
  22. I hate to think what our offense would have been like over the last 4 years without BJ . . . still, I can't stop thinking about what might have happened if we had gone with Landi at QB and moved BJ to any/all of the other skill positions (i.e., a hybrid RB, WR, pistol QB, and kick returner). Just a reminder that at one time, long ago and far away, the QB decision between Landi and BJ was close to being a toss-up. Landi has never been effectively utilized and I think BJ could have been a star in a variety of ways. I know this is a pointless exercise in mental masturbation, but I still wonder what might have been. GB!
  23. I think it IS possible we can get a score against the first-string FSU defense . . . not likely, but definitely possible. I would be happy with any points we manage to earn without them being gift-wrapped by Noles miscues. Perhaps there will be a flu epidemic in Tallahasee this week. GB!
