  1. Frost wouldn't come here.. he's likely to be considered for jobs that will pay more, be in a P5 conference, and be much less of a rebuild (though I think the talent is here to go 9-3 by next year) Noel Mazzone would make some sense, but he's been mostly a west coast guy, and while I don't care if a guy has USF/FL ties, having someone with almost no experience with coaching/recruiting in FL may be an uphill battle. I wouldn't turn him away, but I'd have concerns. And to the anti- Charlie Strong crowd, I think he may be out of place in Texas.. I wouldn't have turned that $$ down either, but he may just be a bad fit, like Rich Rodriguez in Michigan. He'd do fine here, and considering where this program is, that would be an absolute home run hire. But the list made on previous page (again, outstanding list Buckeye!) with the UL-Lafayette coach among others makes the most sense as far as who USF would be able to hire, who would work salary wise, and as far as a good fit in the right point in a coaches career... I do prefer someone with some upside still left, as opposed to a Butch Davis/Larry Coker type hire where I think we'd get a guy looking for a nice place and a nice last paycheck to retire to.
  2. 1) Memphis...Oh my Memphis2) 31-103) Mack4) This is under the assumption they actually complete a pass.. D. Johnson I guess? 5) 240 I only say 31 because I assume they get bored, and realize USF has no chance of coming back, and sits on a lead.
  3. Agree. Assistants are very important to pay well. This was just the list of HC's that are proven winners. Didn't look at DC's or OC's of the Power 5 yet. Figured we would want a proven guy. Oh yeah.. that was a very good list you made.. nobody's asking you to do an assistant roundup! Just spitballing.. I liked some of the moves Leavitt made like Macartney (sp) {former HC with a good track record} L. Dawsey (up and comer with good knowledge base of recruiting area) guys like that.. perhaps try and pluck a guy or 2 off some prep powerhouses like St. Thomas Aquinas to get you an "in" with the South Florida area... And I'd be on board with retaining Tom Allen, he probably deserves a little more time, and I already like what I see more than I did with Cosh and retread guy last season. I really don't want a "retread" guy like Coker or Butch Davis.. we can see how little that's working in Tampa with Lovie. And I'd worry they may just be looking for 1 more paycheck without really trying to do much, kind of like the (lack of) coaching job Skip did here.. And with those 2, neither has really done anything of note in the past decade. Now Strong.. I dunno if UT bails this early on him, but yeah, that's a guy who can recruit FL, knows defense, is open to up tempo offenses, and prior to Texas, which is just a whole different animal, has had recent success at his prior stops. My only concern is that he may be mentally checked out if he's going from fired at a major college power to...whatever USF is now. That said, if he was available and wanted the gig, I'd snatch him up before he could blink. Woolard seemed to be way too worried about a coach leaving USF for greener pastures.. But to me, IF that happens, that means USF has experienced success under that coach, and will be attractive to other coaches if it became available.. that's a much better scenario than having coaches nobody wants, inside or outside Tampa.
  4. One thing I really hope is NOT a concern: Florida and/or USF ties. I don't care. Personally I hope it's someone with no ties to the program (sorry Magee fans) and if the guy happens to not be from or never coached in Florida, so be it. Now.. that's not to say I want some guy coming in here from say, Pennsylvania, and then attempts to bring in a bunch of PA guys. (Or guys from the Dom Republic cough Antigua cough) -- there's plenty of talent here to do 75-90% of your recruiting in state, but you can bring in assistant coaches who know/work the area to do that part for you. The HC's main job should be to win. Perhaps set aside a little more for assistants too.. Since the first wave of Leavitt guys started leaving, the assistants at USF haven't exactly dazzled.. Buckeye- very good list BTW
  5. I'm guessing they figured they were getting either Woulard or Litton, and at least this time, they probably got it right. I'd rather have 3 years of AW than 1 season of potential help for Taggart's career.
  6. I want a coach that's bothered by lots of losses.. Better yet I want an ex-coach bothered by his terrible coaching. I get it with these players.. This team/season/program is garbage. Might as well go about getting yours.
  7. All I remember from Skip's last game is security making some people leave/take down a big sign that the gist of was "Fire Skip" - and the entire lower levels booing those security people mercilessly. That was probably the last enjoyable USF game I went to, mostly because the few people that even bothered coming made it perfectly clear Skip had to go. What we didn't know was that Woolard would replace an indifferent coach with an outright bad one.
  8. Flowers has no arm. Yes, sometimes he gets the ball in the general vicinity of the receiver, but it's such a wobbling beachball duck of a pass, typically the DBs can recover, and the WR has to make the decision- short arm a pass that's only going for 7 yards on 3rd and 12 anyway, or be decapitated by a safety because the throw just lays him out over the middle. Bench is the best of 2 very bad choices. QF can run around, but that's what RB's are for. Flowers is like Honey Boo-Boo in a calculus class, neither can pass.
  9. I'm glad I'm not the only one...Not only is Willie bad, this team is just awful to watch. It's gutless football, and Willie just doesn't have a plan B. The "spread" offense here is like going from 'Vanilla' to 'Vanilla Bean'. The defense isn't bad, but they're just out there all game, and they know they not only have to practically shut out the other team, but also either score or take a TO back to where even Willie can't screw it up. It's unfair to them.
  10. Willie is the problem. But QF isn't the answer. He's lucky (or hopefully the next coach is fortunate) Woulard wanted to come back home, otherwise no QB worth half a flip would come anywhere near Willie and his abysmal, middle school level offense. If I were a QB/TE/WR and had offers to even FAU/FIU, I would go there instead of wasting my career in this 1940's offense.
  11. 1. Seriously? They cannot compete with anyone but other bottom dwellers. USF is one of the WORST teams in FCS. This is not opinion, this is fact. 2. What would you call last season, and more likely this season, but incredibly bad? They might (might) be favored in 1 game the rest of this season. How much worse could you get than 2-10? 3. NOBODY goes to games any more. Even worse, nobody except a few on here even give a sh**. Out of the 20 seasons tickets my group had last year, FOUR of them were renewed.. From people that have been going since the very first game against KY Wesleyan. This program is so bad, that when USF had the gall to call us up and ask for a 90% ticket increase, almost to a man, we said "you know what? Go F yourself.. I can't watch this sh** team anymore" - You basically say they can't afford to fire him (thanks to the tardbilly work of one Doug Woolard, who should be spit on by USF alum daily) I say they can't afford NOT TO fire him.
  12. Who ISNT saying Taggart can't coach? Isn't this fact by now? He is, at best, either a "bag man" coach for Harbaugh, or a RB coach for a low level college team.
  13. Willie Taggart can't coach. I'll say it. I knew more about calling plays when I got 'Tecmo Bowl' for NES. Hey! I get crap on here for talking meany bad about QF, who is a sensitive flower that will feel pain if we talk bad about him. I'll say it again, even though it's just considered 'hating' when I say it- HE IS NOT A COLLEGE QUARTERBACK. He is an athlete just running around back there, and he has no arm whatsoever. He is a poor man's Courtney Denson. Hopefully the next head coach puts him at maybe WR or DB, or just shows him brochures for Bethune Cookman and hope he takes the hint. But hey, I want Willie (and Harlan) fired, so if he wants to start Thor Jzkajkakjzk at QB, fine by me.
  14. Does he get suspended or just out for the rest of the game? If the former, I agree with you, they should petition. I just couldn't believe they called the 1 of Sanchez but not on FSU. (well I can, they were homering for FSU all game) I don't care if it's the end of the game and you want to go back to the hotel, he should have been tossed. Have to get a QF dig in, he's going to get WR/TE killed all year if he keeps floating those ducks over the middle. He can't help it, he doesn't have an arm, but still..
  15. These refs were terrible. Pretty sure I saw a garnet undershirt on the head ref. Blatantly bad all game. Also Flowers can't pass. It's going to be hard to hide that the whole season.
  16. We'd been a part of season ticket group since the inaugural season, and yeah we'd been "grandfathered" in, yet part of a group that makes substantial donations as boosters. The ticket office told us our 2 seats that were $600 last year (and a bit of a ripoff at that considering the level of USF's and their competition's play) were now $1200, and our parking pass was being moved back from the lot..9? (right by the stadium on the south side) to behind the Yankee baseball field (again, why? Nobody fills up that first lot) I thought that was real ballsy of them, considering how hard Skip and Willie have worked to make this program unwatchable, to jack up their long standing supporters. In the group I was in, we had a total of 26 tickets last season, in section 110. Out of those 26, FOUR seats were renewed. The rest, I'm happy to say, told USF to go F...themselves. Between Willie and Harlan, I'm left to hope they burn in the mess they created, and that something worth watching (and worth paying for) rises from the ashes. Until then, I'm actually happy to see them fail. This group has brought this on themselves, and until someone in athletics decides to care again (and maybe reach out to the many long time ticket holders who finally had enough) they won't be getting any of my money.
  17. He really has no arm though. I was watching with an impartial observer, said that he is like "if you subbed in a WR at QB on Madden and just ran around" he laughed and said that was entirely accurate. He can get away with those sort of plays against FAMU, but that likely won't fly starting next week, when probably 10 out of 11 guys on defense are as fast/faster than he is. I thought Bench looked good. I'm not partial to either QB, but there will be some ugly games passing wise from Flowers.. think 7/21 for 65 yd type days.
