  1. It sucks to have lost Tyrik Jones, so I think we may get another DE in the transfer portal. But I think this year some players step up. Hopefully John Waller steps up. Defensive Transfers - Devin Gil LB Thad Mangum DE/DT TJ Robinson DB Bo Peek DT (High school film is great) Thad Magnum to me is that guy that should be able to take charge of the D-Line and help fix the holes. Based on this news story he turned into a "player coach" when he got injured, so that's a sign that he can help the other players get better. https://www.greenvilleonline.com/story/sports/high-school/2020/03/19/former-christ-church-football-star-thad-mangum-transferring-from-wofford/2869066001/
  2. Im being realistic. A conference is only as good as the product they put on the field. I don't see us taking any teams away from the MWC. I dont see BYU joining us either. "If" we have a replacement team it. will come from the Sun Belt or CUSA. That's just reality. So far Kelly wants to roll with not replacing UCONN and Im good with that. Maybe we can add another P5 opponent. But if we replace UCONN, I rather go for a team that ended last season ranked. That's just my opinion. You are free to share yours.
  3. If we have more teams WINNING then we can negotiate a bigger contract for us to split. I honestly don't think the AAC goes more than 1 more year w/o a replacement for UCONN. I also don't see Boise joining us. I see them going the independent route if they leave the MWC. How about Army or Navy?
  4. In football, you make more money and have more opportunities when you WIN games. App State has done nothing but WIN games. WINS = Revenue. The stronger our conference is as a WHOLE the more money we can make. Nothing else for me to argue here.
  5. In 6 years in the Sun Belt they went 7-5, 11-2, 10-3, 9-4, 11-2, and 13-1 last year which they ended RANKED. Thats 61 wins and 11 losses in 6 years of being in the SunBelt. They Beat SEC South Carolina and ACC North Carolina. Took a few P5 teams to overtime. They are 5-0 in Bowl Games and have won 5 Sunbelt titles. I mean what else can they do? I mean they average 25-30K fans per game. Their stadium only hold 30K, but they are adding 5,000 more seat in the next 2 years. I seriously doubt they will suck if they move to a better conference. If they continue to win, then the league will make more money for us to divide. I get it, they don't have the history or prestige of the other schools, but the only thing that matters is if teams can compete and win.
  6. They are 46-16 since joining D1. If they continue to win while in the AAC then it only helps our in conference strength of schedule.
  7. Im still rolling with App State as football only. 46-16 since joining D1 four years ago. If not them then add Army, Airforce or BYU
  8. I get what you are saying. Some teams still have a bigger advantage than us b/c they dont have to learn a new playbook or coaching staff. But they all still have players that had to adjust to learning online and keeping THEMSELVES in shape w/o a spring training. I'm not worried and will just let the season play itself out.
  9. You missed my point. What Im saying is that ALL college teams have the same issue of not having a spring practice. It will be the teams that adjusted to this situation the best and unfortunately that involves a lot of "online" learning. The teams with the most players that were disciplined enough to train hard on their own and learn the playbook online will have the biggest advantage. Shawn Kemp was already undisciplined, but the time off really killed his career b/c he let himself go or didn't train hard enough on his own.
  10. Yup, a right or left tackle who if gets a waiver will likely start start. With him i see this as our starting line up - RT - Demontey Jacobs (If he gets a waiver). LT - Donovan Jennings Center - Brad Cecil Guard - Demetris Harris Guard - Michael Wiggs, Alec Valet, Jarrett Hopple, Sebastian Sainterling, Matthew McDuffie, Joshua Blanchard or Dustyn Hall My friend, I think our O-line should be much better this year.
  11. Nope, I defended Taggart when he came here, even though many people disliked him and predicted we would have success with him and we did. As for this year, we shall see. If you have low expectations, all power to you. I shall keep simply keep mine high.
  12. Depleted? I feel there are "new opportunities" for better players or the same players to step up and do better. Plus I like our transfers. Also its about which coaching staff was able to adjust coaching "online" the best. Im not sure how old you are. But growing up there was a NBA player named Shawn Kemp who was arguably the best "athlete" in the NBA or top 3. There was an NBA lockout and when it ended, he came back fat and with a beer gut. Ive seem how time off can hurt undisciplined athletes.
  13. Technically EVERY other team lost an entire spring as well. Its really comes down to which team has the most players that worked the hard through the quarantine to stay/get in shape and learn the playbook on their own and over zoom meetings.
  14. What's funny is that I have FAU as a loss. Taggart for the first time ever has inherited a pretty good team. Add in coach "L" as his defense coordinator and Im not confident we beat them. I feel we have a better chance of beating Texas b/c they will be sleeping on us. But FAU will be ready. I really like the transfers brought in this year. Remember the names - Noah Johnson and Thad Magnum.
  15. CJS shall get this team ready and prove them all wrong. I think this year, a lot of players step up. I think Noah Johnson will get us 9-10 wins. And if he doesnt win the starting job I have faith in Fortin and even McCloud. Remember this post!
  16. Come back during the season. I promise to put back on my green and gold goggles and make my yearly claim of going "undefeated" while everybody calls me crazy. But I understand how you feel. I'm just as emotionally exhausted as you are.
  17. Just petty by USF. I doubt any of CCS staff will have anything bad to say beside the dudes who got let go.
  18. He definitely should be rated higher. His stats are impressive.
  19. JW was 1st in the league in passing yds (over 5100yds) and had the 2nd most tds out of ALL qbs in the league. I mean, if he had 10-15 fewer interceptions this would be a different conversation. A year or 2 behind Drew Brees and he will fix those mental errors. Brett Farve is a beloved and considered a successful QB with 2 superbowl appearances, 1 ring and a bunch of playoff appearances..but he never threw for 5000yds in a season and **** near every year he made the pro bowl he averaged 15-20 interceptions that year. He also had 1 year with 29 ints and at least 6 years in which he had 20ints. I refuse to believe JW cant reduce his interceptions while still being #1 in passing yds and #2 in tds. As 4 Drew Brees..... Im cool with his new outlook
  20. Maaaan, thats why I try to tell everybody on this board to relax....I know how it is to love a BAD team lol The superbowl Drew Brees helped us win erased all my pain! lol
