  1. I just completed this quiz. My Score 60/100 My Time 158 seconds
  2. Yes - don’t know for how long they have had teams, but they both used to play at Legion Field in LW. I knew Webber had their own field, but apparently Warner just got a new field last year.
  3. Don’t forget Warner… they too may have their own OCS soon!
  4. My understanding is that President Law is a land-use attorney, so this could get interesting…
  5. Good point about LW winning the state title this past year. I believe that Lakeland won the state title in their classification also. It can only help to have proven winners in the locker room… Go Bulls
  6. Finally! An extension we can all agree on… Living in Lake Wales, I’ve known of Coach and her family for years, and her father was a prominent public servant. Only met her once, but used to work with one of her best friends and have heard nothing but good things. There’s also a video out on social media of her dancing with some crazy moves at a football game a couple of years ago. The fact that she was at a football game (especially given their recent performance) tells me she’s just not here for a job. USF pushes the narrative about Bay-Made players. Perhaps USF should also publicize Bay-Made coaches! Go Bulls (and Women’s Golf)
  7. Thanks for the response. USF joining the Big East was before I got interested in USF athletics, so I don’t really know what happened back then. My assumption was that we were required to focus on renovating the Sun Dome and the other facilities as opposed to getting an OCS. Good news is that we’ll take care of that soon. Go Bulls
  8. Just read Bianchi’s article. Although he apparently has in the past, I never thought I’d see the day when he would write a positive article about USF… Question for the long-time posters on this board. Did the Big East require USF to upgrade the facilities for the Olympic sports and a condition of joining? Go Bulls
  9. Well said… I grew up reading Mizell. Todays sports journalists could learn a lot from Mizell and McEwen. Go Bulls
  10. Thanks for posting this! I knew that they (like the entire newspaper industry) were in financial decline; this just proves it. Reminds me of the saying - “when you point a finger at someone, three are pointing back at you”. I am surprised that the plan is to only go with 20-year financing on the debt. Would think that a longer term (30, 40, or 50 years) would make the numbers work better. Then again, my major at USF was Geography, not Finance… With the AAU announcement, we’ve now got momentum. Let’s get the OCS built and take this school to the next level! Go Bulls
  11. Too funny! Given its (supposed) emphasis on science and engineering, it would have been reasonable to expect that Space U would have obtained AAU status earlier than USF. But they have a cheap stadium, a mythical football national championship, and a lazy river, so they are a better school (sarcasm font)…smh…
  12. A couple of weeks ago, in a post regarding the OCS, I criticized the Faculty for not achieving AAU status. After yesterday’s announcement, it’s only fair and appropriate that I commend the Faculty for this accomplishment. Congratulations to all involved! However, I received a reality check today on this topic. I’m enrolled in a doctoral program at another university. I asked a professor (who is also the program director) what his opinion of the AAU was, and his response was “what’s that?” Given that the guy has been a professor for 25-30 years, I was very surprised by the response. After I explained the AAU, he mentioned the Carnegie Research ranking system. Looked it up, and USF is an R1 school. At least he didn’t say that the AAU is a basketball league - that’s a comment I’d expect from a UCF fan… I still think that the AAU is a big deal, but the professor’s comment tempered my enthusiasm. If it gets us in a better conference, then so much the better. USF Athletics - time to step up and take the school to the next level! Go Bulls
  13. The faculty would have more creditability with me if the University already had AAU status. They need to get their own house in order before complaining about other components of the University. Go Bulls
  14. This team drives me crazy! Don’t follow them closely, but my understanding is that our pitching is terrible, yet our hitting is the best it’s been in years. We have 5 players that get post season recognition, yet we had the worst regular season record. Thoroughly enjoyed watching the stats at work this afternoon. Great win, especially against Oviedo State. The 4th inning vs. Miami up in Gainesville a couple of years ago is on my top 10 USF athletics list. Do I dare hope that another trip to the Regionals could happen? Don’t want to jinx it.. Good luck to the team on Saturday and Go Bulls
  15. July 1st can’t come soon enough… let the Texas/Flyover State conference deal with them
  16. Golesh even said last week that someone else would be speaking to the Sports Club about USF football in 3 years if NIL didn’t get going. Based off on that comment, I got the sense that he knows that the pressure is on, and that the clock is ticking…hope he can deliver.
  17. I like Brito’s hustle, but I think that she has some maturing to do. I think that she is only 18. In Orlando last year, there was an incident when she missed a basket. She slammed the mat under the basket, said an expletive, and stormed off the end of the court. CJF ripped her a newer one for not conducting herself appropriately. Agree with others that Asensio is the logical replacement for Wilson. Thought that she played better than Wilson at times. Nice to see that CJF is reloading again, and trying to get to the second weekend of the tournament Go Bulls
  18. This is great news, and not a moment too soon with the latest round of realignment talk. I had heard at last week’s Sports Club of Tampa Bay meeting (CAG was the guest speaker) that the USF Foundation had approved this action earlier that day, and that it was going to the BoT. Glad to see this moving forward! Go Bulls
  19. When they ran the hurry-up offense at the Spring game, they were averaging 10-12 seconds. Impressive, but can they do that in the fall?
  20. Their fan base is unique… made the mistake of sitting on the same side as them at the Gasparilla Bowl a couple of years ago. Their cheerleaders held up signs that had the words “quiet” on them. Their fans don’t know enough about football, so they have to be told when to make noise and when not to? Saw a couple of their fans jumping up and down. Guess they didn’t realize that stadiums made of concrete don’t bounce… I go in the bathroom, and see some of their fans standing in front of the tv watching the game. They can see the game live a few steps away, yet they are in the bathroom watching the game? SMH… Glad they are going to the Texas/Flyover State conference (aka the Big 12). The Big 12 fans can have fun with the Central Florida/C. Florida/ C. Fla/ Oviedo State Golden Knight fans. Go Bulls
  21. I went to a session today and mentioned a live mascot. Suggested that the OCS perhaps should have a “Bullspen”. It was a good meeting and I enjoyed it. I left there thinking we just might get an OCS after all! Go Bulls
  22. My two were able to graduate from HS and get their AA at the same time. They got their AA (from Polk State) with a combination of AP credits and dual-enrollment classes. It worked out great because they didn’t have to take the marginally useful classes the schools like to make freshmen take. Saved money also.
  23. Agree! It was great to see them our there playing and having fun. You could tell that they still have the competitive spirit in them. Julmiste looked sharp and threw some good balls. Barnett’s bomb was impressive. BJ (who still looks like he could just put some pads on and go play pro) went in on the next series and threw a bomb also. This program needs these guys to help build a history and sense of tradition for what is still a young program. it was a nice crowd tonight, and I’ve never seen the baseball stadium used for overflow. As I was walking back to the car, I was thinking about how in a few years, I may be walking from the OCS thru the campus to a parking lot after a game. I’ve made that walk on other campuses; looking forward to doing that at USF soon. Go Bulls
  24. I saw something on social media today where it looked like that Dulcy was at the Muma Center celebrating. I’m obviously opinionated, but I think that ESPN does not give due credit to USF at times. Kudos to Dulcy and Elena on this achievement. Congrats to CJF and USF WBB also! Go Bulls
  25. Congrats! Watching the selection show now. Anyone know if Dulcy and Elena are there? Haven’t seen them. if they were there, then shame on ESPN for not giving them the same coverage as other draft choices. Best wishes for Dulcy and Elena, and Go Bulls
