Hello, yesterday we moved to better secure the site with SSL for login and other options.  Google is beginning to treat non-SSL sites differently and popping up warnings on their browser.  Soon,I am going to have the whole site on SSL which means current linked images will not show after the change - since they're not secure.  When this happens, don't panic, it will only be for images linked before change.

Thanks,

Brad

Sounds good Brad. I am a little confused though, are you saying that any externally linked images will also need to be https?

The way I understand how the board can handle this is that any currently linked external images will no longer show.  That's probably not ideal, but ok.

Future linked images through the "Insert other media/Insert image from URL" functionality will go through a process to save and link through the site so those images will work and be secure.

I know you know your stuff, does that sound alright?

sounds like all the old "girls of xyz" pages will have to be rebuilt from scratch.

Oh, the horror!

I thought about that and was kind of happy that I can rest easy Google isn't going to castrate our funding.

On the other hand, threads "of that genre" need updating anyway! :)

Yeah. I didn't think the current site made a local copy of external images but sounds like it should be fine :-)

Browsers like to complain when there is mixed security.  A link on a page to an image will work, the embedded non-SSL will make browsers complain.
