For those of you who don't have the time to read the article, it was about Steve Jobs wide influence over sports, despite the fact that he didn't care much for sports....

"The University of South Florida equips all athletes with Macs to improve grade-point averages."

I didn't know this little tid bit, which I thought was pretty interesting.  Extra little perk for our recruits.....hey we do not know what's to come of our current conference and its aq status, but we will offer you a Mac if you come play for us.  A little levity.

I doubt it.  The University most likely went with the Macs based on popularity and interest level over pcs.  Plus nice for recruiting, albeit low on the totem pole of benefits.

It was actually a program co-sponsored by Mac (to use iTunes U), Verizon, and the NCAA all chipping in on costs.. 

We were/are one of the first universities to do so.

The Macbooks aren't given to the athletes.  Its a term loan, and its for all athletes, not just football
