If you can't see because the people in front of you are standing up, STAND UP!!! This is football. Not the opera. I can't stand people that complain about people standing.

Want a better view? Move your seats to higher ground.

Every other college stadium i go to, most people stand. I have the complainers at USF games.

Actually, this is a myth.  Most people over the age of 24 ONLY stand WHEN APPROPRIATE... standing for THREE HOURS is, well, stupid.  Standing and yelling when you're winning by two touchdowns over Bob's College is, well, stupid.

The only game where I've stood the entire game was the sold-out WVU game.  And then it was APPROPRIATE to do so.

I've been to quite a few road games for USF and all but the Canadian Bowl game. Everywhere I've been, the students -- and the unfortunate souls behind them -- stand. Everyone else sat the majority of the game.

that's why i'm glad i'm still in student section. I do understand some people "can't" understand for extended period of times but make your choice of seating reflect that. My parents would likely complain about people standing in front of them and they know I would tell them that is COLLEGE football and to either stand or move behind in section. I tore 3 ligaments in my ankle last year and had to be in crutches with boot entire time and would STAND for the ENTIRE football game. I had to stand with a boot the entire game in Gainesville and was VERY TOUGH with that heat as well.If it bothers someone that much then offer to switch seats.

Did you really HAVE to stand the entire time? That is... were the people in front of out so rude to an injured person they did not sit even for even part of the game?

I can tell you this, I was in Gainesville that HOT day... and I sat the entire time. My entire section SAT the ENTIRE game - when they were in their seats not off getting water or standing in the shade somewhere.

Early start for the standing vs sitting "debate".

Why is it only "appropriate" to stand and cheer on 3rd down? Why wouldn't you want to make it more difficult on first and second down? If you aren't blocking anyone's view then why is it stupid. Since the rankings in CFB are based on how good the final score looked, then why not try to prevent the other team from scoring. In any case, to say someone is stupid for doing something that you don't like, is, well, stupid. Sarcasm intended.

1. I can yell just as loud sitting as I can standing.

2. Who said it's only appropriate on 3rd down?  My seats are in the endzone... so I sit and yell when the opponents have the ball on the far end of the field.  But I do stand and yell on all four downs when they right in front of the South endzone.  When it's appropriate.

3. I barely stand and cheer when we're up or down by large scores.  I am still having a good time -- a great time when we're up that big. I don't need to stand to have a good time.

4. People on here are under the delusion that college fans across the country stand all the time.  That is not just not true.  Most people across the country stand based on what occurring on the field, the value of the opponent, the "gravitas" of the game... i.e. when it is appropriate.  If the WVU game is for USF to go to teh BCS, I will probably stand for most of the game... but for FAMU, I will probably only stand for the national anthem, alma mater, and whenever we score.

I didn't say I didn't like people who stand. I said standing for three hours when you have seats is stupid - even more stupid if you've been standing and tailgating for hours before the game.

I wonder why they put seats in the stadium if people want to stand??

Or why people ask... \"Where are your seats?\"...

No one ever asks... \"Where do you stand for the games?\"  People ask \"Where do you SIT for the games?\"

people ask \"where are your seats\"... that doesn\'t automatically imply that one must stay SEATED in those seats at all time, but rather \"seats\" are an easily quantifiable means of determining attendance so as not to overcrowd or oversell the stadium.

my \"seats\" are not merely where i sit, but also where i place my beer, where i put my stuff, etc... in other words, it is my rented space for 6 or 7 days out of the year. how i choose to use my \"seat\" is my business, so long as i am not flagrantly violating stadium rules. your right to be an old spoiled sport should not override my right to be an avid fan who participates in the game by contributing to the home stadium atmosphere. if u want to watch football while seated in a quiet, tranquil environment, buy a La-Z-Boy and sit your blubbery hindquarters down all u like with your Perrier and the lights dim with the TV on in your own home. i don\'t pay for my tickets so i can go to Raymond James and recreate my lonely, pathetic home environment in public and expect everyone else to conform to my expectations. when u leave your home u have no choice but to consider the infinite diversity of opinion of those around u, many of whom have no desire to spend hundreds of dollars a year to make a sports stadium the equivalent of a BINGO game at the local hospice.

if u want a controlled environment, get club seats or stay home. if u want gameday environment, including enthusiastic fans who know how to cheer on their team, come to 125. if u come to 125 expecting everybody else to be a spoiled sport along with u, dont be surprised to have a beer spilled on u and a few friendly fingers pointed in your direction.

For what it's worth, the stadium rules are basically what I've been advocating. Standing when appropriate so the people behind you can see the action.

If you stand in front of me and refuse to sit down, don't be surprised if the authorities come to escort you out.

of course being in the 3rd & 4th rows, I don't have to deal with too many jerks who feel the need to ruin my enjoyment of the game by blocking my view.

The otherside of 125 is loud and supportive as well... and we never have problems with cops like they do on the 126 side.

Just to be clear, the cops only came down once last season during the UConn game to the group you are referring to. Some idiot about 6 rows up in 126 decided to complain about us standing and cheering. The cop said their piece, left, and for some reason the guy who complained left the section about 10 minutes later and never came back.  ::)

The problems in 126/127 stem from the fact that we get overflow from opposing fans which leads to friction during the UM, Rutgals and Cuse games.

One last thing.... no where in the rules does it say you can't stand infront of your seat... it says you can't stand on your seat or in the aisles. Not one word about the rows. TSA just chooses to misinterpret their own rules.

Well, for what it's worth, the rules may say you can stand... but laws regarding conduct in a public place require you to, effectively, behave like the rest of the people around you.  If everyone is sitting and you stand and no one complains - no problem. If someone asks you to sit, and you can still see the game from a sitting position, you should sit.  If everyone is standing, people have no right to complain.

People who have the mantra of "if you can't see stand up" and refuse to be respectful are subject to "disorderly conduct" or "disturbing the peace" laws -- not the only rules of Raymond James stadium.

I'm not saying I'm right and y'all are wrong.

I'm saying that we can have GREAT home field advantage while having respect for our fellow USF fans.  We can cheer and screem and make noise while sitting down just as easily as we can standing up.  There is nothing about the act of standing that makes it "better" for home field advantage.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
