Losing to us is NOT what got Randy Shannon fired.

Several years of mediocrity on the field is what got Shannon fired.

Cane fans have thick skulls and they can't understand that

Sad but true, canes fans don't have a clue.  One game does not make a coach get fired.  The program was not headed in the direction they expect.

Actually yeah, losing to South Florida was what got Randy Shannon fired.  Obviously that was just the straw that broke the camel's back.  It's semantics to get into the argument of whether it was the years of mediocrity and his treatment of people in the program, or if it was the USF loss, when it was clearly both.  But you know, fact of the matter is, if they beat us, Shannon would have (probably) survived through the end of the year at the least.

I don't see why there's such an uproar about that blurb.  Football is about story lines.  That's a heck of a story line.  Bulls beat the Canes, causing the immediate ouster of the former coach.  Now the new coach has to face the Bulls, what will he do?  Great story.
