Bulliever - you and I are saying the same thing in a different way.  It's about DEMAND!!!

Ask Brett how much time he spends trying to track down recruiting information that (1) either doesn't fall into his lap or (2) isn't related to a top flight prospect that is considering USF.

Guarantee he doesn't spend two hours per week.

The demand isn't there for the Tribune to cover it.  If they don't cover it they don't have the information.  That's not to say they can't get it if they wanted to.  The Trib can simply rely on message boards for this and then do some back end checking to ensure the information is correct or get an additional few quotes.

That is why you don't see much recruiting coverage in the Tribune.  Hell, if Brett spent a few days busting his hump on recruiting his boss would get pissed for wasting his time.

Howie - you previously suggested that the Trib or Times could go to their source at the school to get the info.  Well, the school can't comment about a recruit since it would be an NCAA violation.  Not many at USF outside of the coaches are familiar with who is being recruited.  Certainly you don't want our coaches jeopardizing themselves to satisfy a few die hards desires to know more about recruits.

I'm just surprised that the St Pete Times or the Trib doesn't appear to have have a recruiting reporter like Bill Buchalter.

Didn't Buchalter once work for one of those papers?

Bulls Ready For Biggest Football Recruiting Weekend

TAMPA - Two days before South Florida hosts its biggest football recruiting weekend in school history, the Bulls added C/G Danny Muy, a Nebraska transfer, and Valdosta (Ga.) High TE Cedric Hill.

Muy, of Tallahassee Lincoln, was redshirted at Nebraska last season. He left NU to be closer to his mother, Marta McPherson, who was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Because of his family situation, USF officials will seek an NCAA waiver for Muy to become eligible in 2005 without sitting out the mandatory transfer season. He will have four years eligibility if the waiver is successful.

Hill signed with Miami out of high school but was released from his letter-of-intent and sat out last season. He will have four years eligibility at USF.

Muy and Hill will count toward this year's 25-man recruiting class along with Armwood DE Jarriett Buie, who signed with USF last season but didn't qualify.

The addition of Muy, Hill and Buie leaves 22 scholarships for the Bulls, who host 19 recruits this weekend. Included are four players who have already committed to USF - Armwood CB R.J. Anderson, Miami Southwest OL Chris DeArmas, Lake Gibson QB Matt Grothe and Cape Coral WR Taurus Johnson.

Other recruits scheduled to visit this weekend: Miami Norland CB Andre Coleman, Naples RB Jamelle Eugene, Miami Norland QB/FS Dwight Flukerberry, Miami Norland TE/DE Richard Gordon, Blountstown WR/LB Ishmael Grant, Mahwah (N.J.) OL/DL Kevin Haslam, Belle Glade Glades Central WR Jessie Hester, Monticello Jefferson County QB Carlton Hill, Armwood RB Demetrius McCray, Elizabeth (N.J.) FS Jerome Murphy, Tavares RB Dominque Rocker, Wesley Chapel OL Danny Tolley, Clearwater Central Catholic OL A.J. Trump, Miami Norland DE Gary Watts and Miami Norland LB Garrett White.

Saturday, the Bulls will hold their football banquet at Busch Gardens at 5:30 p.m.

RYAN'S HOPE: Reserve (La.) East St. John QB Ryan Perrilloux, USA Today's Offensive Player of the Year, said Wednesday his finalists are USF, Mississippi State, LSU, Texas, FSU and Miami.

Perrilloux told ESPN.com that ``South Florida has an all right chance. I really just like the receiving coach [Lawrence Dawsey] a lot. That's really what's keeping them on my list.''

Perrilloux has not scheduled an official visit with USF.

NEW DIGS: The day after USF unveiled plans to upgrade and build new facilities, USF athletic director Doug Woolard said the response from the USF community was tremendous.

``I spoke to several donors and season ticket-holders and they were encouraging and very supportive,'' Woolard said. ``Also our coaches are really excited and it's nice to see that kind of internal reaction.''

ODDS AND ENDS: Freshman QB Louis Gachette likely will move to wide receiver this spring. ... The women's basketball team has finalized home-and-home deals with No. 9 Michigan State and No. 3 LSU. Next season, the Bulls will host the Spartans on Dec. 10 and visit LSU on Dec. 30. In the 2006-07 season, USF will play at MSU and host LSU. ... In what would be a historic meeting, Ticketmaster.com is selling tickets for ``DePaul Blue Demons Men's Basketball vs. University of South Florida Women's Basketball'' Feb. 22 in Rosemont, Ill. Actually, USF's men will be playing DePaul's men that night.
