The BE really dropped the ball when the had a chance to get Penn State in the 1980's.  Penn State's basketball stunk then just as much as it stinks now, and the basketball only schools were afraid of football, which did not exist in the BE back then.  However, if Penn State did join in the 80's, then the Big East would have been bigger than the ACC in football and would not have raided the Big East, which means USF would have been stuck in C-USA.

It looks to me that that the "BE" and "moving quickly"....ar two terms that we may never see used in the same sentence. The sluggishness shown is ...awe inspiring.
