::sick::

Sorry, just typing it sickens me...

Former Florida signee…

Marcus Baker spoke last week. A late addition to the 2004 Florida signing class who was unable to enroll at UF, Baker is presently enrolled at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville. Baker told me that he is looking at three schools, South Florida, Central Florida, and Bethune-Cookman. The Bulls and Knights are especially eager for him to transfer in January, so that he can participate in spring drills. He said that his plan was to remain at Santa Fe through the spring and transfer. My guess is that Baker will end up in Daytona Beach with the Wildcats.

PS - The last thing my stomach needed to see was your wretching emoticon.  :-X

I believe Baker was Cornelius Ingram's main target at Hawthorne. If it is the same kid, seeing that he is at Santa Fe he probably is, then I believe we offered him last year as well.

Yes, they also played basketball together.

I know we were prepared to offer him IF Ingram came along. I'm not so sure we were prepared to give him a scholarship by himself, although Leavitt did say at the time he was a very good player in his own right.

if he is better than what we have he is welcome if he is not we don't need him

we need to upgrade at all positions

especially wr where we looked terrible with so many dropped balls

Well, if ranking means anything we are already ahead of last year at recruiting W/R.

Peyton was #58 WR in 2004 according to Rivals

So far this year we landed Taurus Johnson ranked #32 WR, and are in the running fnr OJ Murdoch #7 and Jessie Hester Jr. #39.

Of course, some guys slip through the ranking cracks like Lee of Tampa who is now starting at Pitt, but it seems more likely you have a better chance of getting a quality player if he is ranked.

As to Baker, he had potential, but wasn't a highly ranked recruit.
