Saw Scout advertising a new USF commit at USFNation and so I checked Rivals and they listed another OL commit:

Brynjar Gudmundsson

Ht: 6-4.5 Wt: 267

Position:  OL

Year:  Class of 2011

High School:  Wellington HS

(Wellington, FL)

Haven't seen him listed anywhere here.  Offers from FIU, UCF, Marshall and USF.

Wellington OT commits

By Patrick Lammer August 30, 2010 05:33 PM

Wellington High offensive tackle Brynjar Gudmundsson, ranked No. 27 among the Sun Sentinel's top football prospects in Palm Beach County for the Class of 2011, verbally committed to South Florida on Monday.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound Gudmundsson picked USF over UCF, FIU and Marshall.

He is the Bulls' 13th verbal commitment.

Verbal commitments are nonbinding. National Signing Day is Feb. 2.

What is going on with all of these kids committing? Something is wrong here. Most of these kids are being recruited by CUSA team, no BCS offers, chalk another one up.

Some nice comments about him in this thread:

Rivals lists him as a soft USF verbal

I had to use a cache link to this story as the original is no longer available:

Wellington: Coach Chris Romano wants a bull's eye on his team's back. He wants a district title.

And he wants his players to believe they can achieve those goals.

If Monday's opening practice session is any indication, Romano won't have to do much convincing. In a night session that finished after the sun went down, Wellington's 85 or so players hooted and hollered all the way through to the last whistle.

But Wellington's bravado is only part of its foundation. Senior offensive tackles Brynjar Gudmundsson (6-4, 265) and Austin Peavler (6-3, 275) are the heart of a veteran offensive line that features four seniors and one junior.

"We're not surprising anyone with what we want to do," Romano said. "Running the ball is our bread and butter."

With a hefty group of returning players and a great offensive line in place, early practices give Romano a chance to see what he has to build on top of his solid team's foundation. And he liked what he saw on Monday.

"This is a good group of kids," Romano said. "Our goal is to compete against [defending Class 5A District 13 champion] West Boca Raton. That's what I want these kids shooting for."

bperroni The last 3 #USF commits are named Brynjar Gudmundsson, Thor Jozwiak, and Antoine Pozniak. Skip Holtz loves the Scandinavians.

By Larry Weisbaum

USFNation.com

Posted Aug 30, 2010

USFNation has just learned of some breaking news. Skip Holtz and the South Florida Bulls picked up the another commit for the class of 2011 today! He's Brynjar Gudmundsson, a 6-foot-5, 267 pound offensive lineman from Wellington, FL. Read on for the details

Skip Holtz and the South Florida Bulls picked up another verbal commitment today.

The USF staff keeps the commitment momentum rolling as Brynjar Gudmundsson, a 6’5, 267 pound offensive lineman from Wellington high School in Wellington, FL. just committed to Coach Holtz as part of the 2011 recruiting class.

“USF was definitely my number one school,†said Brynjar. “I really like the coaching staff, and they really stood out to me,â€

The Wellington High standout offensive tackle, a four year player for the wolverines was one of the top prospects in the county and was ranked No. 27 prospect in Palm Beach County by the Sun Sentinel's top football prospects for the Class of 2011, verbally committed to South Florida on Monday.

Gudmundsson was a participant at the USF SuperBull camp this summer and chose USF over offers from UCF, FIU and Marshall, and also had plenty of other programs that were showing interest.

“I went to USF for their camp and that was great,†said Gudmundsson. “They offered me and that has really been the main school that I’ve been looking at.â€

He is the Bulls fourth offensive lineman commit and the 13th prospect to pledge his services to USF for 2011.

He reportedly also had an offer from Syracuse.

Wolverine offers: Wellington offensive tackle Brynjar Gudmundsson, who has offers from FIU, Marshall and UCF, received others from Syracuse and USF.

The Bulls have clearly addressed the offensive line in recent weeks, with Gudmundsson as the fourth o-line commitment in this class. Wellington coach Chris Romano said what stands out is his athleticism and agility, along with his youth -- he just turned 17 last month. Gudmundsson is 6-3 and 265 pounds, and while he's playing tackle at Wellington, Romano said he expects him to be a guard at USF, or even a center, the position he played last season. He's also played some tight end and defensive end, so there's versatility to be sure.

Gudmundsson's father is from Iceland and his mother from South America, making him arguably the most international player in USF football history. Romano said he chose the Bulls over offers from Central Florida, Marshall and Florida International, and Syracuse was "very interested" but had yet to make an offer.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
