AP has pulled their poll from bcs

that cal- texas shinanigan was the final straw

could THIS be the catalyst for a playoff system

with fox taking over, utah, louisville and  boise in top 10

now AP pulling their poll could the stars finally be aligning for a playoff system of some sort?

Conference championship game to determine playoff participants.  Non-participants to play in lower bowls.

No.

None of the people with the power to implement a playoff system, namely the university presidents and conference commissioners, want a playoff. And this AP thing isn't going to change their minds. Call them hypocrites if you want, but they're the ones calling the shots. We will not see a playoff in the next ten years.

The BCS may die the horrible death it richly deserves, but it will just be replaced by another bowl-based system. The BCS dying, and a playoff system being born, are two TOTALLY different issues.

A more realistic scenario is a return to the "Bowl Coalition" days. The four major bowls will agree to stage a 1 vs 2 game, as determined by some quasi-objective methodology, at a rotating site. But, the non-championship NYD bowls will be allowed to pick teams as they traditionally did. There will be no autobids for the likes of Pittsburgh and four-loss Florida State, and no more Orange Bowl trumping the Rose Bowl's bid by $407 to get Iowa-USC like we had a couple years ago.

This shows more merit in Tranghese's plan that was leaked through the media a few days ago. I am assuming that there is going to be a committee that will chose the two teams in the national title game which may have pissed the AP off because they may not have much say.

Or, maybe the AP caught wind that their polls aren't going to be used to determine the national title game anymore, and decided to quit before they got fired.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
