That is correct, juniors and seniors can transfer to anywhere but within the Pac-10...12...14...?? Anyways like GA said, Boyd is going to  have to sit out for a year. The key decision on Boyd is whether to take him and lose a scholarship for another recruit in 2011... Or use a scholarship on Demar Dorsey or Nickell Robey(release?) and have an immediate impact player/potential starter for this season. For the coaches, the wild card is Demar because he is a risk(off the field) and isn't as familiar to them. He does have a bit of a track record but...http://recruiting.scout.com/2/943194.html

he can play now..( He's #2, wait for the end it won't disappoint). Nickell has already been scouted and recruited by our new set of coaches and they have a relationship with him where as Demar was not on USF's radar. Yet they apparently like Demar enough to start talking to him first though....

Nickell Robey 5' 8" 160 or 165 (May or may not be granted a release...although I think if he wanted out he could get it.)

Demar Dorsey 6' 1" 180

either way USF wins.

Irish transfer Boyd would play WR at USF

Few interesting updates in the potential summer transfers to USF football, and we'll start with Spencer Boyd, the cornerback from Cape Coral who is transferring after enrolling at Notre Dame in January.

Boyd met with USF coach Skip Holtz 10 days ago and the meeting went well, according to Boyd's father, Scott. Boyd still has summer classes at Notre Dame before he's finished there, so if things worked out with USF, he wouldn't join the Bulls until two-a-days the first week of August.

What's intriguing is that Boyd's father said USF is interested in the 5-foot-10, 175-pound transfer as a slot receiver -- he first made a name for himself at Cape Coral as a running back, rushing for 1,059 yards and 15 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2007. Last fall, while focusing on defense, he rushed for 516 yards and five touchdowns. He played cornerback this spring at Notre Dame.

We've mentioned the possibility of a hardship waiver here, but Boyd's father said that's unlikely to happen, that Boyd is OK with taking a traditional redshirt this fall and having four years of eligibility starting in 2011. He'll finish summer classes with 17 credit-hours earned at Notre Dame. USF remains at the top of his list, so now it's a matter of seeing if the Bulls can find room for Boyd can get him in as part of this fall's class.

-- One name you can scratch off the list is Frostproof cornerback Nickell Robey, who gave USF a close look right before choosing Southern Cal back in February. The NCAA's penalties against the Trojans gave their signees a chance to step back and re-evaluate their decisions, but Brad Matheny, Robey's coach at Frostproof, said Monday that he's talked with Robey and he plans to stick with his letter of intent and attend USC this fall.

-- Many of you have asked about Demar Dorsey, the defensive back from Fort Lauderdale who signed with Michigan but reportedly was not accepted into school by the Wolverines. I checked with Boyd Anderson coach Mark James on Monday, and he said first that Dorsey isn't completely done with Michigan, and that his phone's been ringing off the hook, but that USF wasn't among the schools calling him trying to get in the mix for Dorsey this summer.
