I'm just trying to predict what a Committee would come up with.  I think they would rank Cal #4 followed by Texas, Utah, and Boise St.  I wouldn't be thrilled about a Cal-USC rematch, but if Cal stacks up as the fourth best team in the nation, then so be it.

The goal is to get the 4 best teams to play it out on the field.  Like I posted before - it's not perfect, but it's better than the current system.

You cant put either Utah or Boise St in over UL. That would not be right because I believe UL is alot better than those two programs.

Not sure Boise St or Utah would be undefeated if they had to play @Miami. I am sure they would have lost by a bigger margin than UL did.

Playoff, Playoff, Playoff

Utah would have beat Miami at Miami this season.  The Utes are for real.

And who would be on the selection committee?  The conference commissioners?  They would simply lobby for their respective conference champion to be in the NC, and we would see alliances and rivalries form.  We'd probably end up with a more screwed up situation because under Tranghese's proposed system, we'd see more bickering than already exists.  As if the BCS wasn't political enough already.

All the conferences would have to be represented on the Committee, and obviously the Chairman would have to be an impartial leader.  If it works for basketball, why can't it work for football?

The committee would look at the polls, quality wins, strength of schedule, etc. and choose the best teams based on all the info.  Get rid of the stupid computers.  Does a computer know that a close Auburn win over Alabama in the Iron Bowl is a good win?

32 team play off over 5 weeks

big 6 wouldn't go for it because it puts all on equal footing for big money

In other news, Big East Conference Commissioner Michael Tranghese addresses the possible inclusion of East Carolina University, The University of Central Florida and The University of Memphis.

Tranghese also shot down both published reports out of Greenville, N.C., that East Carolina is a possible target for league expansion, and also any notion of a federated ninth, football-only member anytime soon.

One report indicated that, after Memphis and Central Florida had expressed that they would only join as all-sports members, that ECU was willing to jump at a football-only membership, and that an invitation could be extended by New Years.

"There's no truth to that," Tranghese said. "I haven't talked to them, and I haven't heard from them."
