  1. I think that Chuck Amato was paying the ultimate compliment to the professional body of work compiled by Jim Leavitt and his coaching administration at USF by courting Lawrence Dawsey. Moreover, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneer would have made an egregious error by acquiescing the beauty of Tampa Bay for the commuter gridlock of the Research Triangle Park. It is a true testament to the manner in which Leavitt has been able to attract and retain a former NFL wide receiver (Lawrence Dawsey) and a former NCAA Division I-A intercollegiate football coach (Carl Franks) at USF. I'm looking forward to the attainment of a coveted national championship for the Bulls as well.
  2. Personally, I was quite partial to the presidential candidacy of Betty Castor but perhaps I'm unable to be an objective judge of Castor versus Genshaft since I was an undergraduate student at USF during Castor's tenure. I was hoping that Castor would have defeated Mel Martinez in the U.S. Senatorial election as well.
  3. Perhaps you should have applied a similar disclaimer indicating that your posting was intended to be interpreted in jest. Good grief. Judging from Herrion's post-game remarks following each ECU/USF men's basketball game, I could not envision the Merrimack College alumnus becoming a part of the USF community. Moreover, as one might recall, he doesn't enjoy the lifestyle of Florida (though I cannot understand why one would detest glorious, radiantly glowing sunshine and beautiful beaches). In all sincerity, I am anticipating Herrion's acceptance of Terry Holland's overture to remain at ECU in a fundraising capacity at the University. ECU alumnus Dave Odom, holding a master's degree from ECU, is a leading candidate to succeed Herrion, according to the local Greenville-based CBS affiliate. Alas, I'm quoting mass media sources so please don't attack me again with childish insults. :

  5. Personally, I would hope that there is some way in which Brian Fisher could complete his undergraduate degree requirements at USF without the possibility of performing as a student-athlete for the Bulls intercollegiate athletic program. In my opinion, Brian Fisher has remained enrolled at the University in relatively good academic standing, despite his recurring legal issues. From the perspective of athletic eligibility, I would hope that Coach Leavitt and his staff will enact the "Three Strikes and You're Out" policy in light of Mr. Fisher's circumstances.
  6. The South Florida Bulls sent Larry Eustachy's Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles spiraling into the cellar of the Conference USA standings with a victory over USM last evening in Hattiesburg.
  7. Rightfully so, the USF fan base seems to look favorably upon the era of Marquel Blackwell's tenure at the Bulls quarterback in a messianic light. However, I think that Carlton Hill has the potential to supercede Blackwell in terms of his significance and stature within the USF intercollegiate football program. Congratulations on an exceptional recruiting class, Coach Leavitt!
  8. Thank you, wagers. Terrence Leather is perfectly suited for South Florida where he could earn a distinguished undergraduate degree and become a star performer in Conference USA. While I was quite saddened to learn that Leather had not committed to my other collegiate alma mater, I was pleased that South Florida had earned the young man's commitment. Best of luck to Mr. Leather, personally and professionally, beyond his undergraduate tenure in the Tampa Bay region.
  9. Clearly, Zabian Dowdell is a young man who is genuinely loyal to Virginia Tech head men's basketball coach Seth Greenberg. Mark Berman of the Roanoke Times discusses the manner in which Zabian Dowdell was enticed out of his verbal commitment to the University of South Florida by then-Bulls head coach Seth Greenberg when Greenberg accepted the same position at Virginia Tech. While the Hokies are faring well in their new environs of the Atlantic Coast Conference, I am hoping that the Miami Hurricanes will miraculously pull off the upset victory.

  11. I haven't heard any information indicating that Anthony Henry is appearing in a television spot within the imminent future. However, I could certainly attest to Anthony Henry's qualifications for television advertising-related roles considering his degree in the field of journalism and mass communications from USF. Clearly, Henry has earned respect as a NFL-caliber secondary unit player.
  12. I read the article in this morning's edition of the Tampa Tribune as well and promptly posted the information to this message forum. BullsPen.Com Moderators, feel free to remove my posting on this same topic as I did not scroll down the page to view another Danny Muy-related article.
  13. Why, pray tell, would you enroll at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill? Seriously, best of luck to you. Don't allow the People's Republic of Chapel Hill tyrants brainwash you! 8)
  14. Bulls fans, Congratulations on a very hard-fought men's intercollegiate basketball game in Greenville. In comparison to his predecessor at South Florida, Robert McCullum is the consummate gentleman and statesman. Hopefully, Coach McCullum will succeed at USF in the future. Regarding my "other" collegiate alma mater, I am hoping that ECU could salvage the remainder of the season with a few victories, at the very least. Regrettably, my primary fear is that East Carolina has faced the weakest segment of its current schedule excluding Oregon State, Pepperdine, North Carolina State and South Florida. Nevertheless, best of luck in your future endeavors.
  15. I concur with your assessment of the situation, smazza. In my opinion, Dave Maggard should have prepared a contingency plan in the event that the University of Nebraska-Lincoln spurned the Cougars. I am able to recall a similar incident occurring at ECU during the late 1990s in which the University of Kentucky was scheduled to play the Wildcats in Greenville, along with a $450,000 transfer of funds. Ultimately, Kentucky signed a contractual agreement to play a Division I-AA institution at the time and ECU was forced to schedule the institutional ilk of Tennessee-Chattanooga. In my opinion, the sole noteworthy student-athlete on the UTC Mocs football roster for the ECU game was that of wide receiver Richmond Flowers, a transfer from Duke University.
  16. Why should USF terminate Mike Hobbie? Judging from the biographical synopsis on the GoUSFBulls.Com website, Coach Hobbie is well-qualified to serve as an associate football coach within the Leavitt Administration. Perhaps you could enumerate plausible reasons to terminate Hobbie's contractual agreement with the University.
  17. Out of curiosity, what is "ftu/ou/oc?" I was referencing East Carolina, Central Florida and Memphis. Perhaps you were referring to another poster. ???
  18. Perhaps playing time was the impetus for transferring to a Division II institution. He should have matriculated at USF and followed in the footsteps of his brother. Nevertheless, thank you for your prompt response.
  19. USF deserves congratulatory commendations for losing by a 72-70 narrow margin of victory against the University of South Carolina. Unfortunately, my "other" collegiate alma mater, ECU, faces South Carolina for its next contest at a neutral site in Mobile, Alabama. One might surmise that the Pirates will struggle against the Gamecocks in light of recent losses at the hands of Gardner-Webb University, Western Carolina University, Old Dominion University and Winthrop University. Speaking of ODU, where is T.J. Waldon, the younger brother of B.B. Waldon, nowadays?
  20. In other news, Big East Conference Commissioner Michael Tranghese addresses the possible inclusion of East Carolina University, The University of Central Florida and The University of Memphis. Big East Keeps BCS Muscle By Brian Lewis, Staff Writer The New York Post New York, New York http://www.nypost.com/sports/36730.htm
  21. Brett McMurphy is a highly credible, reputable, well respected, dignified and above all, objective print journalist who thoroughly researches each article before publication. To my knowledge, Mr. McMurphy has never injected a modicum of subjective opinions into the contextual breadth of his articles and often times, prefers to offer a positive perspective on the state of the intercollegiate athletic program as a collective entity at the University of South Florida. In my opinion, Brett McMurphy is the finest journalist covering the South Florida Bulls within the Tampa Bay region. As USF embarks upon its nouveau foray into the realm of Big East Conference competition, an advocate such as Brett McMurphy is vitally imperative for the future self-preservation of the Bulls intercollegiate athletic program. Enjoy a wonderfully festive holiday season and a remarkably prosperous new year. Go Bulls! (Except when the Bulls are competing against the Pirates)
  22. CyberBull: Perhaps you're correct. Perhaps I should stop supporting South Florida in the future. Irrespective of your personal attacks or assassination of ECU's institutional integrity, I will continue to support USF and ECU, respectively. If you would like to see me stop posting on your message forum, then please, by all means, notify me privately or publicly and I'll comply with anyone's wishes. I apologize for the disruption vis-a-vis the mere posting of Tampa Tribune articles.
