MLB doesn't see it as some you Tampa residents. They see the Bay area as a failed project. They NEVER wanted a here in the beginning.

If MLB NEVER wanted it here, it wouldn't be here ...

A failed project? The team lost 100 games nearly every year since their existence until 2008. How can you really expect to build a fanbase off of that. 1998 is technically the inaugural season, but 2006 is the beginning for me. Also, how do you know how MLB sees it? You talk with Selig recently?

We'll all see what he thinks soon enough:

After being overlooked for expansion. The city of St. Pete threaten MLB with law suits. They told them to back off and they would get the next expansion team.

Mike Greenberg from Mike & Mike show just spoke about the lack of fan support from a national point of view. And how they view the area.

I live in New Tampa/Wesley Chapel area and it is easier and quicker for me to get to orlando than it is for me to get to the Trop for a 7pm game start considering traffic and distance. Downtow Tampa/Near Ray Jay/or 75 and I4 would be ideal spots for relocation.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
