Guest Hail Pitt
Most schools have started 'club' lacrosse programs, and then compete at different levels in the USLA (I believe) before moving to D-1A Lacrosse. Currently there are about 50 schools looking to move to D-1A Lacrosse. Last season, the national champions for the the lowest divison was a D-2 school in Virginia, for the mid level champs were George Washington and Long Island, and for the large level was ECU. Guest HowieP1
Didn't USF used to have a swimming and diving program?USF won a national championship in Women's swimming and diving but it was in a lower division.A couple of years ago, there was talk from LRS about adding Women's swimming and diving again, and that he was looking at the possibility of using an olympic type swimming facility in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. I haven't heard anything more about it.Before adding Lacrosse, I think the BE should add Ice Hockey, so that the USF Ice Bulls could compete on a higher level. We were behind on Title IX a year ago or so. I would imagine that is gonna be difficult to keep up with. Adding 85 scholarships for football tends to put a strain on the equality. That means we need 85 women's scholarship athletes just to match football.Men's Ice Hockey and Lacrosse will never make the jump until we are WAY ahead on the Title IX issue. But look for more women's sports such as diving/swimming (women's only) and possible something like Crew. By the way, when UCF added football they did so at the expense of a wrestling program, something else we could probably field a very successfull team. My old high school coach was their wrestling coach and got the boot as they added football.

The only team D1 NCAA team in the south is Alabama-Huntsville, there would be a lot of travel involved. Other teams would have to make the move also, even if Title 9 wasnt a factor.
