flsportsfan83 Posted January 17, 2010 Group: TBP Subscriber III Topic Count: 0 Content Count: 17,492 Reputation: 1,248 Days Won: 13 Joined: 08/16/2004 Share Posted January 17, 2010 Leavitt Unloads USF Gear to Strangers Posted January 17, 2010 by Scott Carter Updated Jan 17, 2010 at 03:52 PM In his old job, former University of South Florida football coach Jim Leavitt wore USF athletic apparel at work nearly every day.Leavitt spent part of Sunday morning driving around town in his SUV giving away a lot of his worn USF gear to strangers.“There were some homeless people I gave stuff to,’’ Leavitt said when reached on his cell phone Sunday afternoon.Leavitt didn’t provide specific details about what he handed out, but he said Sunday wasn’t the first time he has driven around town passing out USF clothing to people on the street.“That’s not something new,’’ Leavitt said. “I’ve done that kind of thing before; who else would want to wear my old stuff?’’Leavitt was fired Jan. 8 by USF for an incident with walk-on running back Joel Miller at halftime of the Nov. 21 game against Louisville that a university investigation concluded was a “serious violation’’ of school policy.
