Leavitt Unloads USF Gear to Strangers

In his old job, former University of South Florida football coach Jim Leavitt wore USF athletic apparel at work nearly every day.

Leavitt spent part of Sunday morning driving around town in his SUV giving away a lot of his worn USF gear to strangers.

“There were some homeless people I gave stuff to,’’ Leavitt said when reached on his cell phone Sunday afternoon.

Leavitt didn’t provide specific details about what he handed out, but he said Sunday wasn’t the first time he has driven around town passing out USF clothing to people on the street.

“That’s not something new,’’ Leavitt said. “I’ve done that kind of thing before; who else would want to wear my old stuff?’’

Leavitt was fired Jan. 8 by USF for an incident with walk-on running back Joel Miller at halftime of the Nov. 21 game against Louisville that a university investigation concluded was a “serious violation’’ of school policy.

That is actually a real nice act on his part...plus, what is going to do, have a garage sale...I like Holtz, but man am I going to miss Leavitt...

It probably wouldn't look so bad if there were recorded instances of him doing this prior to getting the axe.
