The Ghosts of Betty Castor and Sammy Al-Arian

I think that whole deal surely played into it.  The university is very keen with making sure USF looks like they are tough on misconduct.

And when you have a highly educated lady like Genshaft running the show, when you have a University who faced a major PR blunder with the Al-Arian guy, this is what you are going to get.

Honestly, I think it says a lot about Genshaft and how she runs things. No nonsense. She understands she answers to the Board of Regents and her repuation is on the line. I give her big kudos.

You don't hit the kid and then worst of all, you don't cover it up. She did the smart thing. "You're fired." She didn't do it in haste, she crossed her "t's" and dotted her "i's."  Genshaft and the University Counsel's Office remembers the Betty Castor debacle and said "nah nah" "Not on my watch." I'm the boss "you're fired." The lady is making 500k a year and she just reminded the whole campus who is boss.

"Heavy-handed" might be a way of looking at it.

I'm not impressed with Genshaft's handling of this situation.
