We had a blast in Birmingham and El Paso.

According to the bowl website....

On Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. the marching bands will face off at Metro Hall Square. Each band will perform their school's fight song, and then alternate with selected numbers. After crowning the winner, band members and fans filter into the many eateries and pubs in the finest Entertainment District in North America.

Every type of restaurant and bar you could want is located within a few blocks.  This is also a couple blocks from the dome.

(I hope half-HOT can bring it for something like this)

I don't think NIU will be bringing many extra people to the game.

NIU President John Peters told faculty and staff today that the coming year holds serious financial challenges for the university due to the ongoing state budget crisis. The president’s remarks, delivered at a meeting of the NIU Board of Trustees and streamed live over the Internet, included new directives aimed at helping the university navigate a serious cash-flow crisis.
